We're looking for a Data Modeler & Data Owner/Steward to help shape and manage our enterprise data architecture and governance strategy. In this role, you'll design scalable data models while championing data integrity, security, and compliance. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams—including business stakeholders, data engineers, and analytics professionals—to build well-structured, high-quality data that drives informed decision-making across the organization.
What you’ll do:
Data Modeling & Architecture
Design and maintain relational, dimensional, and NoSQL data models to support both operational and analytical needs
Promote best practices in data modeling, including normalization, indexing, and performance optimization
Collaborate with Data Engineers to build scalable data structures in modern platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, and Snowflake
Maintain metadata repositories and ensure clear data lineage and traceability
Use techniques like Event Modeling and Event Storming to align system design with business workflows and real-time data flows
Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles to create scalable, context-aware data systems
Data Ownership & Governance
Serve as a data steward for enterprise domains, driving data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across platforms
Develop and uphold inclusive data governance policies that support privacy, security, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA)
Maintain accessible data dictionaries, standards, and classification frameworks to support clarity and consistency
Collaborate across teams to address data challenges, improve quality, and promote standardization
Data Quality & Stewardship
Establish validation rules and perform audits to ensure ongoing data quality and usability
Work with diverse business teams to validate and enhance data completeness and relevance
Support Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives to deliver trusted, unified data across the organization
Lead inclusive data stewardship practices through training, documentation, and knowledge-sharing forums
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Analytics, Engineering, and IT teams to ensure data is modeled for effective reporting and AI/ML use
Collaborate with Product to define data responsibilities, KPIs, and SLAs for key datasets
Act as a subject matter expert in data governance, modeling, and architecture to promote alignment in data-driven decision-making
What you’ll bring:
5+ years of experience in data modeling, governance, or stewardship in dynamic environments
Solid knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, data warehouses, and data lake architectures
Proven experience implementing data governance frameworks at scale in mid-to-large organizations
Familiarity with AI/ML-driven data governance tools is a plus
Industry experience in finance, healthcare, e-commerce, or technology is a strong asset
Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field

Data Governance & Quality Tools: Collibra, Informatica, Talend, Alation, Data Catalogs
Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP (BigQuery, Databricks, Synapse)
Programming & Query Languages: SQL, Python, JSON, YAML
ETL/ELT Pipelines: Experience working with Data Engineers to define ETL processes
Compliance & Security: Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA)
