Inizio Engage Canada has partnered with multinational biopharmaceutical company to create a dynamic team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) focusing on a neuromuscular/rare disease product. As an integral member of the Medical Affairs team, MSLs support the company, its products and relevant therapeutic areas by advancing scientific and collaborative relationships and acting as a conduit for timely scientific exchange with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), investigators, payors, formulary committees, and similar entities. Inizio Engage Canada is seeking an MSL to focus on a neuromuscular/rare disease product and they will be a key member of the client’s Field Medical Affairs team. This position will be the primary communicator of the science of the clients’ products and will be responsible for executing the national medical affairs plan within a specified territory of covering Ontario outside of Toronto. Job Responsibilities Investigates and understands the medical landscape leading to the implementation of a medical plan to address existing or future scientific gaps, in collaboration with the MSL Senior Manager and/or the Medical Director. Systematically identify and develop relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs) to raise awareness of the client’s mission to accelerate the invention and adoption of life-changing medicines for patients living with the neuromuscular/rare disease. Leads efforts in recognizing, identifying, cultivating, and establishing KOL relationships in specific therapeutic areas of interest. Identifies opportunities for scientific growth and generation of medical evidence in support of the appropriate utilization of therapies. Identifies, develops and manages KOL relationships on a continuum of advocacy in support of company objectives and enhancing the company’s reputation as a scientifically innovative industry partner. Acquires and maintains a level of scientific knowledge in neuromuscular and rare disease therapeutic area(s) and/or disease state(s) involving clinical issues; able to interpret and disseminate pertinent scientific/clinical data and evaluates current and new information as it applies to therapies. Tactical delivery of programs according to established objectives and serves as a resource for education and dissemination of pertinent, clear, and balanced scientific information to internal (sales and other internal teams) and external audiences (KOLs, HCPs, Medical Societies, investigators, payors, formulary committees, and similar entities). Communicate meaningful insights gleaned from peer-to-peer discussions with HCPs. Identify, analyze, and translate specific needs within the territory to achieve clinical and business objectives. Attendance of scientific meetings of medical associations (regional/national) representing the client and engage with thought leaders and provide summaries and key messages for use within the company. Provide high level support for company sponsored trials and aides in navigating investigator-initiated research proposals through the review process, when needed. Collaborate with internal partners, as appropriate, to advance clinical and business objectives. Continually educate self on global and regional market issues, trends, and product knowledge as it pertains to key therapeutics areas. Deliver relevant health economic data to key stakeholders including payers and HCPs. Execute key job functions, including documentation of field activities, submission of medical insights, completion of medical information requests, expense report submission, required trainings, and other tasks as necessary. Actively contribute to the growth and development of the Field Medical Team. Ability to garner actionable medical insights is critical. Job Qualifications Advanced Scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, and advanced practice providers.) is preferred. Candidates holding a Master’s degree with relevant professional experience will be considered. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with diverse audiences. Minimum of 3 years of clinical and/or industry experience required in neurology, neuromuscular, rare disease, immunology or biologics therapeutic areas. 3+ years of MSL, Medical Advisor or other relevant Canadian field medical experience in Pharmaceutical Industry – strongly preferred. Neurology, neuromuscular or rare disease experience field medical experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals. Experience in communications with Payors, Formulary Committees, and Similar Entities is an asset. Able to carry out interactions in person as well as at distance (remote), phone, online and digital platforms interacting with HCPs and KOLs. Strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills. Exceptional presentation skills are required. Strong work ethic and positive attitude. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions while maintaining appropriate compliance boundaries. Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and autonomous environment where business needs may rapidly evolve and change . Meet requirements for health industry representative credentialing to gain access to healthcare facilities within the territory. Candidate must reside within the geography (Ontario, outside of Toronto). Ability and willingness to travel up to 30-40% including overnights within assigned region. Working knowledge of virtual presentation platforms, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Valid Driver’s license and in good standing.
