The Haskayne School of Business is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Position Title for approximately 24 months.
The Learning and Development Consultant (LDC), Executive and Professional Development (EPD), is a key member of the Haskayne School of Business, reporting to the Director, Executive and Professional Development. The role supports the design, development, and delivery of executive and professional development learning programs for corporate and individual clients.
The LDC works closely with the Manager, Learning and Development Programs and other members of the EPD team. This position requires collaboration with faculty, staff, and external partners and involves frequent client-facing activities, including travel to offsite locations. The LDC operates with a high degree of autonomy, balancing multiple projects and priorities.
The LDC understands EPD clients and is able to interact with senior executives and managers of regional, national and international companies, as well as other executive education program directors. The LDC knows how to develop strategic partnerships pertaining to the design, development and delivery of EPD programs. The LDC is experienced in leading cross-functional project teams to achieve desired outcomes.
Due to operational requirements, this role is predominantly on-campus. Primary working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. (35 hours per week); however, due to constantly shifting priorities, flexibility is essential, including some evening and weekend hours.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Program Design and Delivery
- Conduct needs assessments with clients and potential learners to define program goals, desired learning outcomes, industry and organizational context, and success measures.
- Design and develop impactful learning programs, integrating innovative experiential learning methods (e.g., blended learning, simulations, action learning).
- Provide oversight of the operational delivery of programs and facilitate reflective learning sessions to enhance participant experiences.
- Monitor budgets, ensuring cost control and quality delivery.
- Evaluation and Reporting
- Lead the program evaluation process, including analyzing quantitative and qualitative data to assess impact and ROI and facilitating program debriefs with clients.
- Produce reports, case studies and impact assessments to demonstrate program effectiveness.
- Provide feedback to faculty and stakeholders to improve future programs.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Business Development
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, faculty, and external partners, including corporate CEO's and senior officers, VPs Human Resources and Professional
- Development, and Executive Education Program Directors.
- Support business development by contributing to proposals, RFPs, and facilitating client meetings.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote programs and increase enrolments.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead cross-functional teams, mentoring faculty and staff to achieve program goals.
- Will provide day-to-day leadership for the management of a Program Specialist position, as well as other positions that may be required to successfully achieve program deliverable outcomes (e.g. program and instructional design, launch, technical support, and ongoing adjustments).
- Contribute to department strategy and digital learning initiatives.
- Delegate tasks to Program Specialists/Coordinators and provide operational guidance.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in adult education, learning design, or related field; Master's degree or PhD in adult education, learning design, education or leadership development preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in executive and professional development learning and development program design and project management.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates comparable knowledge and abilities may be considered.
- Proven expertise in instructional design, pedagogy, and learning technologies.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and customer-focused mindset with a commitment to stakeholder satisfaction and engagement.
- Proven progressive leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, lead diverse teams of internal and external stakeholders, and engage senior executives.
- Strong business acumen, including budget development and financial reporting.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and experience with dashboards and collaboration platforms (e.g., Teams and Zoom).
- Experience with CRM tools, and analytics platforms; Adobe Creative Suite and social media expertise an asset.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize tasks, and drive results in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
