Do you have a creative flair and a passion for flowers? South Country Co-op is seeking a detail-oriented and artistic Floral Clerk to join our team at the 13th Ave Food Store in Medicine Hat.
Reporting to the Produce Manager, the Floral Clerk is responsible for the design, creation, and care of floral arrangements using a wide range of flowers, foliage, herbs, and decorative materials. This includes bouquets, vases, wreaths, centerpieces, and other floral products. The successful candidate will be proficient in all aspects of plant care and be able to maintain a wide variety of species in the flower, foliage, herb, and decorative grass families and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Create custom floral arrangements including bouquets, vases, wreaths, and centerpieces
Maintain the health and appearance of fresh-cut flowers and potted plants
Water, prune, and care for various plant species
Provide knowledgeable customer service and plant care advice
Ensure displays are visually appealing and fully stocked
Operate floral tools such as scissors and knives safely and efficiently
Support general duties within the Produce Department as required
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the floral area
Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Candidates must be at least 15 years of age
Minimum 1 year of previous floral industry experience
Certificate or Diploma in Floral Design or equivalent is an asset
High school diploma or acceptable combination of education and experience
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs frequently
Knowledge with plant care for flowers, foliage, herbs, and grasses
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
High level of integrity and professionalism
Must be able to operate floral scissors and knives
Work Schedule:
This position requires full availability, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and during popular events (Valentines, Mothers Day etc)
