A select number of positions require full-time in office attendance
If you are an aspiring translation professional who loves to push the boundaries of what is possible, then this might be the role for you. We are a small, close-knit team, looking for someone who can jump in and make an immediate impact.
What you’ll be doing:
Verify and approve applications of Japanese volunteer translators;
Identify and report mismatches in strings/text
Provide the correct translation, and where applicable fix directly via text database
Provide context for foreign language defects
Work closely with other translation team members
Must be dependable and punctual
Create and maintain a lexicon, or terminology guide
Liaise with colleagues to ensure that translations are true to the original meaning
What you’ll need to be successful:
Must Haves:
Must be able to provide accurate idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from English to Japanese and vice versa.
Mastery of the Japanese language: writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a diligent eye for detail, language, flow, and grammar.
Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, manage multiple deadlines, and unexpected assignments.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Nice to haves:
Bachelor’s Degree in Translation, Literature, or similar field, or experience as a translator a plus
Experience with CAT Tools (Phrase, SDL Trados, memoQ) a plus.
