District Operations Coordinator

The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is recruiting for a District Operations Coordinator to support the operational needs of all 22 District Councils, and act as a liaison to their District Captains. Reporting to the Manager of Government Administration, the successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring the smooth execution of logistics, administrative functions, and interdepartmental coordination. The District Operations Coordinator will be a highly organized, motivated, and proactive problem solver that thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to supporting Métis self-government.
Key Responsibilities
Provide operational and administrative support to the 22 District Councils of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government to ensure efficient and effective organizational functions.
Coordinate logistics for meetings, events, travel, and other district-related activities.
Support the development and tracking of district budgets, working closely with Finance and each District Council.
Serve as a liaison between the District Councils and key departments, including Communications, Executive and Self-Government, as well as our Legal Counsel, ensuring timely and clear communication.
Assist in the preparation of reports, briefings, and official correspondence on behalf of the District Councils.
Maintain organized records and files related to district operations, communications, and budgets.
Identify and implement administrative process improvements to support district governance.
Monitor and support compliance with organizational policies and procedures at the district level.
Other duties as required or assigned.

Experience managing budgets and coordinating logistical and operational functions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and digital collaboration tools.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Exceptional facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills, with an ability to produce professional documents, reports, and presentations.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders.
Political and cultural sensitivity and a strong sense of ethics, with the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
Knowledge of Métis history, culture, governance, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the unique legal context of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
Qualifications
Post secondary education in Business Administration, Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, or similar. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an administrative, operations, or coordination role.
Knowledge of Métis governance, culture, and communities in Alberta is a strong asset.
Other Requirements
Preference will be given to applicants based in or willing to relocate to Edmonton. Considerations for alternate working location(s) may be made for the right applicant. Due to space constraints, this position is eligible for a remote-work rotation.
Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM with occasional evenings and weekends as required, with notice.
Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Travel within Alberta is required. Additional, less frequent, out-of-province travel may also occur, with notice.
