As Director, Health Systems Analytics, you will spearhead the development of innovative analytic tools, models, and insights that support smarter health system planning, policy-making, and quality improvement across the province. You will play a key role in advancing Ontario Health’s data, analytics and reporting strategy and establishing our position as a global leader in healthcare analytics. In this role, you will lead a talented, multi-disciplinary team of analysts, researchers, modelers, epidemiologists, and data scientists who turn complex health data into clear, actionable insights. Collaborating closely with internal and external partners, your team will deploy high impact analyses to respond to questions from system leadership, design advanced analytics, develop novel measures, and deliver impactful visualizations and reports that influence critical health system decisions. We seek a strong leader with extensive experience in healthcare analytics, leading data and analytics teams and a collaborative approach. You will ensure your team meets ongoing commitments while driving new strategic initiatives and responding swiftly to priority requests from senior leadership. You will work closely across clinical programs, regional teams, and corporate portfolios to identify analytic needs and oversee high-impact projects. Additionally, you will promote Ontario Health’s global leadership in health analytics by fostering professional development within your team and across the organization, partnering with leading experts, and sharing Ontario Health’s innovative work through conferences, publications, and stakeholder engagements. Here is what you will be doing: Lead a diverse team of 30-40 analytics professionals, including managers and individual contributors, spanning disciplines including data science, epidemiology, and research methods. Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and execute a strategic product roadmap that balances ongoing projects, new initiatives, and capacity for rapid response analytics, in alignment with Ontario Health’s priorities. Ensure delivery of high-quality, methodologically sound analytic products that are replicable, defensible, and informed by best practices in Canadian healthcare. Oversee multi-year modeling and forecasting to support demand planning and capacity management across the health system. Guide analyses to identify key performance trends and issues in priority health areas, working closely with clinical and subject matter experts. Drive innovation by advancing the use of advanced analytics and emerging methods, including AI and machine learning. Lead the translation and communication of complex data insights through accessible formats such as dashboards, visualizations, and reports for diverse audiences. Partner across Ontario Health to integrate analytic products into decision-making processes and empower non-analytic staff with analytic tools. Present strategic insights and recommendations to health system leadership to inform evidence-based decision-making. Manage work plans, budgets, staffing, recruitment, and team development, fostering a transparent and collaborative culture that promotes innovation and staff engagement. Act as executive sponsor for Ontario Health’s Analytics Forum, championing learning, capacity building, and cross-organizational collaboration. Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal teams, health system stakeholders, and external organizations to drive collective impact. Here is what you will need to be successful: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or PhD is an asset) in Health or Business Administration, Public Health, Epidemiology, Economics, Data Sciences or another relevant field. At least 5 years work experience in health care environments, including a minimum of 3 years in management roles. Work experience in Canadian health systems is an asset. Experience in managing large and complex data- and analytics-related operations. Working knowledge of Ontario’s health system and experience working with a wide range of clinical and administrative stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including senior management, clinicians, researchers and scientists, staff and external partners in a multi-disciplinary environment. Leadership experience in equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism is an asset. Knowledge and Skills: Proven ability to manage high-performing teams to excellent, demonstrable results Strong judgement, strategic thinking, problem-solving and reasoning skills involving highly complex issues that often have limited precedent. Broad understanding of the health care and public sector environment, including changing priorities, trends, legislative requirements and/or other internal and external emerging issues and their potential impacts on goals, priorities and activities within the function and across the organization.
