This is a temporary, full-time contract position to cover a maternity leave, ideal for a compassionate and skilled individual looking to support at-risk youth in a meaningful and impactful way.
About the Role
Funded by the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services, the Youth in Transition Worker supports youth aged 15–23 as they transition out of the child welfare system into independent living. This role is key in providing direct support, advocacy, and navigation of community resources to empower youth in achieving stability and success.
Key Responsibilities
Build rapport and engage youth using flexible, youth-centered approaches.
Support youth in identifying and achieving personal goals.
Advocate for access to community services and provide transportation to appointments.
Facilitate life skills development and crisis intervention as needed.
Maintain detailed case documentation and manage a caseload of approximately 20 youth annually.
Develop and maintain community partnerships and resource directories.
Promote the YIT program and represent the organization at community meetings.
Participate in internal and external meetings, training, and administrative tasks.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Certifications:
Diploma or degree in Social Services, Child and Youth Work, Social Work, or a related field.
Class G license and access to a reliable vehicle with $2 million liability insurance.
First Aid/CPR and ASIST certifications are considered assets.
Experience & Skills:
Experience working with at-risk youth.
Strong skills in engagement, communication, and crisis intervention.
Knowledge of the child welfare system and local community resources.
Ability to work from trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and inclusive frameworks.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case documentation systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexible work hours, including some evenings, to meet youth needs.
Working Conditions
Office and community-based work settings.
Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM, with occasional evening flexibility.
Frequent interaction with youth, CAS workers, and community partners.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position to provide maternity leave coverage, with an anticipated end date of July 2026.
