Client is looking for a Legacy (Mainframe) Data Subject Matter Expert(SME) role with 8+ years of experience of working in Legacy/Mainframe sector, to assist with the planning, implementation and improving the quality of data by optimizing processes for the analysis, evaluation, and validation for data conversion process from Legacy Source Systems/Mainframe/AIX to Cloud Applications.
This Role requires a blend of technical hand-on skills, business acumen, business and process analysis skills, creativity and strategic, thinking and usage of proactive approaches, data analysis tools and methods to support the profiling and determination of business rules.
Resource Responsibilities
Detailed data analysis and assessment of current client legacy Mainframe data and help support transformation project to migrate it to future target systems
Understanding mainframe applications using SUPRA and DB2, COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, and other relevant technologies
Extensive experience in understanding, managing, and migrating data from legacy mainframe systems and help in the source to target mapping and its extraction.
Responsible for assessing and validating data quality, ensuring data integrity during migrations, and providing technical guidance to modernization teams.
Supporting Project testing Phases (DIT/SIT/BAT etc.) across multiple Test Environments.
Evaluate the quality, structure, and integrity of data within legacy mainframe systems.
Collaborate with modernization teams to develop and implement strategies for migrating data to new platforms, including GW AWS cloud and Azure cloud environments
Develop and execute data transformation scripts to ensure data consistency and accuracy during migration.
Establish and enforce data governance policies to maintain data quality and security throughout the migration process
Optimize data access and performance within the new platforms
Provide technical expertise and guidance to development and modernization teams on all aspects of data management and migration
Training other team members on mainframe technologies and best practices.
Perform impact analysis, code reviews, and participate in peer development activities.
Collaborating with IT security to ensure compliance and maintain security standards.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data flows, system architecture, and solution designs.
Experience with Agile methodologies and working in Scrum teams.
Requirements
Knowledge & Skills
Proficiency in Mainframe Technologies: Deep understanding and experience with COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, DB2, SUPRA and other related technologies.
Knowledge of RACF, CICS gateway, or modern integration approaches (API/Mainframe bridges).
Experience with z/OS: Hands-on experience with the IBM mainframe operating system (z/OS).
Strong Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex mainframe issues.
Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders and teams.
Knowledge of SDLC and Agile Methodologies: Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Experience with Mainframe Data: Proven experience in mainframe development, data management, and modernization.
Familiarity with enterprise version control systems (e.g., Endeavor, Change man, Git for z/OS).
Experience working with the Canadian government or insurance-related systems.
Skillset
10+ year’s professional experience in Information Technology or Information Management and
10+ years prior experience in programming languages (COBOL, JCL, CICS, REXX)
8+ year experience working on Mainframe Platform, and extensive experience working with Legacy Data Management systems like IBM DB2, VSAM, SUPRA and IMS DB.
8+ years proven experience data analysis and mapping data from multiple sources to multiple target databases and identifying the transformation rules.
8+ years’ experience in data integration, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting and data extraction from diverse data sources (e.g. SAP, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Excel, etc.) into target systems
