Our Northern Corridors Office is looking for a Senior Manager, Construction Management Field to join the team. You will work closely with and provide strategic leadership to the Barrie and Stouffville Project Team, Contractors and Corridor Leads on the GO Expansion program.
What will I be doing?
Provide construction expertise to the overall project lifecycle, design constructability reviews, detailed planning and staging, on site assurance, commissioning and handover readiness planning.
Manage conflicts effectively to ensure resolution is reached with minimum disruption to workflow; track issues and manage the investigation of potentially serious situations that could impede the overall quality and management of projects and implements corrective measures
Direct the field construction management planning and program initiatives to achieve organizational service construction delivery goals, objectives, and priorities on time and on budget.
Provide leadership and direction in developing the field construction management performance plan.
Provide leadership and oversight to develop innovative changes/improvements and best practices for Construction Management Office (CMO) internal processes and policies.
Represent the field construction management at meetings with stakeholders, such as consultants, vendors, Metrolinx executives, and senior management, to provide construction input and expertise associated with major service improvement projects or service extensions.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Construction Management, Planning, or Architecture field or a related field, specialized certification, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
Demonstrated experience encompassing leadership roles focused on providing comprehensive field/on-site construction management services and support associated with the planning, designing and constructing transit facilities, station infrastructure, and related works on public transit/light/heavy rail operations and transportation engineering, preferably in the public sector and/or unionized environment.
Previous experience as a construction manager in the rail sector, i.e., stations, tracks, bridges, overhead catenary systems, signaling and communications.
Experience in front-line railway operations and/or applied track engineering is an asset.
Comprehensive experience in construction management, contracts administration, fieldwork, and construction inspections.
Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) certification and/or qualification, a valid Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license recognized by the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), a valid Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists and/or Environmental, safety (such as OSHA), and/or regulatory transportation courses or certifications would be assets.
Expert oral and written communication skills and proven ability to create and deliver persuasive and engaging presentations to our industry's audiences.
Demonstrated functional acumen to support how solutions will address internal client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices.
A valid driver’s license is required to travel to various project locations, public meetings, etc. (approximately 5%). Must meet and maintain the corporate standard for a good driving record.
