Job Summary Job Description What is the opportunity? Data Analytics play critical roles for management in navigating today complex business environment. The CIO Function for RBC Insurance is looking for a highly skilled quantitative researcher. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with data engineers, researchers to the development and execution of data-driven strategies. The ideal candidate will participate from data acquisition, alpha generation to portfolio construction and risk analysis. What will you do? Develop and maintain machine learning models to identify and deliver high impact solutions that enhance trading workflow, alpha generation based on return forecasts, fundamentals, market technical etc. – all within the binding constraints of a bank owned insurer Construct a quantitative approach to enhance credit risk monitoring process and integrate natural language process to extract credit relevant signal from earning calls, regulatory filings and macroeconomics news Use AI methods to detect mis pricings and regime shifts across bond universe Design portfolio optimizer and implement robust back testing framework to evaluate strategy performance – focused on benchmark design/implementation Assist in portfolio construction, strategic and tactical asset allocation and constraint management Partner with data engineers, and other researchers within the team to shape public/private portfolio positioning, refine and implement strategies. Document the process and monitor strategy performance and develop tools to track key metrics and identify anomalies. Create centralized, well maintained shared Python libraries within team. What do you need to succeed? Must-have Advanced Degree (master’s or PhD) in Computer Science or other technical or quantitative field. 4+ years of experience in quantitative research role. 1-2 + years’ experience of building Machine Learning models in a front office role. Experience with portfolio optimization, quantitative factor modeling and time series analysis. Programming proficiency in Python, R, or similar for model development and data analysis. Nice-to-have Strong experience in fixed income analytics platforms (Bloomberg PORT, Yield Book, etc.) Dashboard visuals experience such as Tableau and experience with Snowflake Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across investment, risk and other functional partners.
