JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Payroll & Compensation Manager the successful candidate is responsible for processing end-to-end payroll transactions and providing support services associated with the company benefits, pension plan and HR related processes
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Prepare and process payroll end-to-end process including new hire onboarding, timesheet allocation, pay cycle processing, and pay adjustments in compliance with all collective agreements and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Address inquiries from employees and managers.
Maintain and administer changes to the HRIS databases ensuring proper documentation is readily available for audits and reconciliation.
Act as a secondary backup to ensure company compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Keep abreast of legislative changes as it relates to payroll.
Assist in reconciling all payroll and tax-related problems or inquiries
Provide advice and assistance on matters related to payroll.
Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of T4, WSIB, EHT year end process.
Liaise with external parties regarding payroll inquiries.
Process benefits and Pension enrollments
Prepare, reconcile and remit payments related to union dues and pension for both union and non-union employees
Prepare, reconcile and remit payments related to WSIB.
Participate in the design, development, and testing of new or revised payroll systems.
Process change reporting letters and employment verification letters
Process new hire packages
Update org charts.
Support monthly Finance requests to update headcount for direct hires and contractors.
Other Duties as Required
Qualifications
We are seeking dynamic and results-driven professionals who have:
3+ years of payroll/HR experience.
Member of the National Payroll Institute with Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate a strong asset.
Proficiency in Word and Excel.
Ability to communicate effectively, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to quickly understand business processes and navigate organization and support systems to deliver results to client groups.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines.
Ability to exercise good judgment, sensitivity, confidentiality and handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.
