Job Posting: Manager, Health Workforce Strategic Supports About Ontario Health: The Health Workforce Strategy and Implementation Division of Ontario Health drives the advancement of health human resources (HHR) initiatives. Our focus is on building and optimizing health workforce capacity in critical health system areas, supporting priority populations through equitable access to HHR, building provincial HHR data repositories, maximizing and optimizing health professional recruitment supports, and providing crisis response/system stabilization solutions to HHR challenges. Position Overview: Reporting to the Director, Health Workforce Integration, the Manager, Health Workforce Strategic Supports will manage a team within Ontario Health to lead a complex operational portfolio comprised of strategic health workforce supports. This includes overseeing a provincial health professional career platform with tens of thousands of active users. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the day-to-day management of a provincial health professional career platform, ensuring seamless functionality and performance. Monitor site performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with Digital teams to implement solutions. Lead platform development and optimization efforts to enhance user experience for job seekers and employers Analyze workforce metrics to identify trends and opportunities for platform improvements Identify strategic opportunities to strengthen Ontario’s health workforce capacity through platform enhancements Collaborate with provincial healthcare partners, employers, and policymakers to align platform offerings with workforce needs Engage in extensive stakeholder consultations to ensure the platform effectively supports health professional recruitment and retention Ensure high client service standards for both health professional job seekers and employers Oversee user support functions, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and technical issues Develop and implement strategies to improve user engagement and satisfaction Lead and manage a high-performing team responsible for platform operations, workforce analytics, and stakeholder relations Oversee program implementation and delivery, ensuring alignment with provincial workforce priorities Identify and manage risk using a structured risk management process within the context of the programs Leadership Responsibilities: Coach and mentor staff to ensure continuous quality improvement initiatives are incorporated into day-to-day activities Focus on acquiring, developing, and retaining talent, effectively leading the team, and promoting a positive team atmosphere with high morale Manage assigned staff, including allocation of staff resources, delegating, scheduling, and prioritizing workloads Present findings of assigned projects on behalf of the organization in appropriate health care or other stakeholder forums Monitor staff performance including performance reviews, and employee goals and objectives setting Develop an operating plan, proposed budget, and staffing requirements to support Ontario Health’s mandate to publicly report on the status of healthcare in Ontario Prepare departmental project management/status reports, as required Assist with strategic goal setting and operational planning, with the Director and other manager colleagues Work effectively and collaboratively with partners to complete deliverables to the required level of quality, on time and on budget Qualifications: Minimum of a Master’s degree in a health system/business/technology related field OR demonstrated similar level of education and experience with the key areas of accountability 7+ years of overall working experience, including at least 3 years of management experience preferably in a government or healthcare environment, and at least 3 years leading digital platform solutions Experience with cloud-based software as a solution, including workflows and automation, and reporting and dashboard creation. Experience with Salesforce administration is a strong asset Strong communication and presentation skills, with ability to tailor style based on a diverse audience including executive, clinical and technical audiences Experience hiring, managing, and leading teams with a strong focus on personal accountability and attention to results Must be passionate about leadership, organizational health, culture, values, and team development Must be flexible and forward thinking Must be detail-oriented with strong problem solving, critical thinking, and negotiating skills Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust, credibility, and respect Collaborative management style with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment Previous experience with workforce Superior ability to analyze and define problems, evaluate alternatives, find solutions, and make decisions Excellent presentation, technical writing, data translation, facilitation, and training skills.
