Position Title: Insights Manager Reports To: Senior Manager, Integrated Media and Intelligence Location: Markham, Ontario - Hybrid POSITION SUMMARY As the Insights Manager, the incumbent will lead the development of the Consumer, Brand, and industry insights capability for JM Smucker. Working independently, this person will own insight management, elevating the organization’s overall strategic planning and decision-making capabilities. Cross-functional work will be done in strong partnership with the marketing & sales teams across all categories to help in establishing brand & retailer thought leadership. Responsibilities include executing the research learning plan, based on the business needs. As well as providing thought leadership to marketing & sales to help brand growth. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY Provides input to the development of the Annual Research Plan: identifies information needs based on the business plans, determines research approach and budget required, ensuring alignment with key brands and retailer priorities Helps to identify consumer trends and growth opportunities for brands/business Provides strategic counsel to marketing communications strategies through Smucker ICP (Integrated Communications Planning). Is the voice at the table for consumer insights, bringing their point of view, while understanding the needs of the business Provides consumer insights and trend summaries, which help identify headwinds that could affect our business plans Identifies research needs and appropriate methodologies/analyses to address those, reviewing historical data (where applicable) and proactively recommends research needed Actively seeks and applies leading industry practices regarding new research techniques and approaches. Identifies ‘best in class’ research partners and manages partners to gain best value/best return on investment. Leverages multiple data sources to craft compelling consumer narratives that enhance brand & retailer thought leadership Supports efforts to institutionalize trend tracking & monitoring to ensure consumer insights are leveraged across the company. QUALIFICATIONS Degree, diploma or relevant experience 5-7 years of experience in market research Strong understanding of existing, proven, and emerging research methodologies General understanding of Nielsen syndicated data Skilled in analyzing complex data sets and synthesizing findings into actionable insights. Developed ability to network with Insight and Research Partners and agencies. Strong inter-personal and communication skills Understanding of marketing and consumer product sales and business needs and processes; ability to interpret data and research to guide actionable insights Strong presentation, project management and problem solving skills Demonstrated proficiency in both critical thinking and attention to detail Solid experience working with teams, preferably cross-functional teams Strong initiative and ability to work independently We are looking for varied perspectives which include diverse experiences that can add value to our team.
