Assumptions and theoretical influences underlying practice with older adults and their families. Individual and group work skills in intervention strategies with older adults and their families who face a variety of issues. Expert knowledge of the formal and informal service delivery systems for older adults in the province of Quebec. Families in later life, retirement, caregiving and care receiving, death of a spouse or partner, institutionalization, end of life care and the search for personal meaning. The unique needs of and challenges faced by specific populations of older adults that include: survivors of mass atrocity crimes; immigrants; older adults with a mental illness; and individuals who are abused. Self-care practices for social workers to enhance wellness and reduce stress. Theoretical frameworks that inform social work practice include life course perspective, strengths-based practice and empowerment.
