Wasauksing First Nation is accepting applications for a Vice Prinicipal for Wasauksing Kinomaugewgamik – Elementary School as a full-time permanent position. The Vice Principal serves as an administrative team member to develop and implement the total school program. The Vice Principal of Wasauksing Kinomaugewgamik First Nation School, will play a crucial role in supporting the school's mission to provide quality education while respecting and promoting the cultural heritage, language, and values of the First Nation community. Responsibilities will encompass various administrative, educational, and leadership duties, working closely with the Director of Education, Principal, staff, students, and the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Vice Principal position is responsible for the operation and administration of the elementary school system and other related services and programs as may be required or assigned from time to time, collectively referenced below as Education, Learning services and programs.
Assist the Principal in the day-to-day administration of the school.
Help develop and implement school policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
Collaborate with the Principal in budget management and resource allocation.
Engage school community with Anishinabek Education System.
In the absence of the Principal, the Vice Principal shall be in charge of the school and shall perform the duties of the Principal.
Support curriculum development, implementation, and assessment.
Promote culturally relevant and inclusive teaching practices.
Assist to provide direction to Lead staff in implementing goals and objectives.
Interact and meet with staff to assist in their development.
Oversee student assessment and evaluation processes.
Provide guidance and mentorship to teachers and support staff.
Assist in professional development planning for the school staff.
Collaborate with the Principal in staff recruitment and evaluation.
Develop and refine staff job descriptions.
Foster a positive and safe learning environment.
Implement student behaviour protocols in a fair and culturally sensitive manner.
Address individual student needs and concerns.
Build and maintain strong relationships with the First Nation community.
Organize and participate in community events and meetings.
Act as a liaison between the school and the community.
Promote the celebration of First Nation culture and traditions within the school.
Support the integration of cultural teachings into the curriculum & all classrooms.
Maintain accurate records and data related to school operations.
Prepare reports and presentations as needed.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree
Bachelor of Education Degree (Master's or 2 specialists including Special Education preferred)
Registered with Ontario College of Teachers, and in Good Standing
Principal Qualifications (Principal Qualifications Part 1 completed)
Experience of at least 3 – 5 years in educational leadership roles, preferably in a First Nation school context.

Experience in classroom teaching with a demonstrated record of performance.
Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and issues.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Familiarity with Indigenous Service Canada (ISC), Anishinabek Education System (AES), Kinoomaadiziwin Education Body (KEB), and other funding sources for education, learning and programs essential.

Valid Driver's License and reliable personal vehicle
This position requires the individual to work with various families, youth and children. To protect children, youth and vulnerable persons, Wasauksing First Nation requires the individual to provide a vulnerable sector check
