Summary The Information Services and Digital Solutions (ISDS) Group, within OSC, is responsible for the product management, architectural design, development, and support of the business solutions to support policy creation, and adjudication and enforcement functions to contribute the development of national and global regulations. Reporting to the Manager of Technical Services, the Platform & Cloud Engineer is responsible to design, deploy, manage, and maintain the life cycle of services / products that are deployed at the OSC. These services include cloud platforms including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services, cloud network infrastructure, cloud infrastructure & network automation, core cloud and shared services. The incumbent works with the different IT support groups to develop annual and multiyear IT infrastructure refresh cycles and roadmaps, provide information security risk analysis and policy recommendations for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of OSC Infrastructure and Cloud Platforms. Additionally, the individual will support cloud platform services including device management procedures, cloud backup/recovery infrastructure, Directory maintenance, and technical administrative functions. Key Duties and Responsibilities Provides specialized support of Information Technology assets / resources in the cloud and OSC on-premises platforms. Lead IT platform/product management and currency processes for core cloud and shared services along with assisting in vulnerability and remediation processes in collaboration with different IT support groups. Perform a cross-platform role, supporting the different teams within Information Services. Participate proactively in developing and maintaining IT standards and best practices for OSC IT Infrastructure, Cloud Platforms, and support Network & Security Operations’ services. Assess and design new cloud and infrastructure and network solutions based on new or changing business requirements. Resolve complex production issues spanning multiple systems and technologies. Develop & implement new server / infrastructure / network solutions / designs based on changing requirements. Continuous improvement for the operations of standard network solutions. Assess, design, deploy and support Enterprise Monitoring / Alerting / Resolution capabilities for outages, issues, performance, and maintenance activities. Develop service continuity and contingency plans for cloud services, network services, and product availability in case of failure or service interruption. Work with internal teams and vendors on maintaining appropriate service & network changes & troubleshooting solutions. Participate in the selection and acquisition of new cloud services including authentication, network, wireless and WAN technologies. Assist in the process of remediating security vulnerabilities across all assets in the OSC and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner; collaborate with IT, Information Security and the OSC business areas to ensure that Vulnerability & Patch Management is proactively managed, and vulnerabilities are triaged and remediated. Provide reporting and metrics related to Cloud services, Network Services, Monitoring & Alerting services for events and security vulnerabilities and update Management Teams on a regular cadence. Assist team members in responding to all vulnerability and security breaches in a timely manner and agree with direct management team on priorities and timeline to implement patches while minimizing disruption to business activities. Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of cloud services, network services, product integration services and recommend update on related policies as applicable on an ongoing basis. Monitor emerging trends and new product offerings, evaluating their feasibility and associated implementation costs, working with Enterprise Architecture (EA), Application Services (AS) & Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) Management team on providing recommendations on new technologies, equipment, tools, and services. Provides technical support to resolve critical issues for platform system/services, backup/recovery processes. Provide design, deployment, and support of day-to-day operations for Platform storage, services, systems along with infrastructure / server services including Linux systems (Ubuntu, Red-Hat and others) Active Directory, Device Management services, Backup, Virtual Desktop services and security services within the cloud platform. Review and analyze existing application effectiveness, efficiency, and product currencies, and then work with Enterprise Architecture, Application Services & IS Management Team to develop strategies on improving or leveraging these systems. Is proactive in suggesting enhancements and technological choices. Deploy technical mandates from IS management, Enterprise Architecture, and the Information Security Office. Advise the IS Teams by suggesting corrective measures to meet project objectives whenever necessary. Identify and remove impediments and prevent distractions. Facilitate discussions and conflict resolution. Contribute to planning and design meetings, write wiki articles and participate in issue and team retrospectives. Work with the team to self-organize. Relationship Management Work with the Information Services Teams (IS), Information Security Office (ISO), Digital Solutions Branch (DSB), and IT vendors to identify opportunities and use of technology to improve operations and achieve business objectives. Provides technology advice within IS as required in technology and business processes. Develops and manages relationships with internal/external stakeholders, ensuring OSC systems are serving business needs. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand activities and concerns, provide advice, participate / manage projects and resolve issues. Ensures project outcomes and delivery expectations are effectively met and that required support and training are provided to support groups and users. Maintains strong working relationships with internal/external stakeholders, service providers, and vendors to keep abreast of new products and available tools and technologies, facilitate request for service/proposal processes, resolve issues, and manage quality and performance of products and services provided. Works closely with ISO, IS & DSB by providing input as and when needed in the design decisions for existing and new technology solutions. Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Cloud Platform services, Cybersecurity, or equivalent is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience with Azure Platform, building, administering and supporting Linux (Ubuntu, Red-Hat and others) systems, Network services and Monitoring tools. A minimum of 5 years of administering and managing Microsoft SharePoint system and processes. A minimum of 2 years of managing Microsoft Purview Information Protection system and processes Proficiency in vulnerability management across platforms (Windows, Linux, Network devices etc.), ITSM change management, incident management and assets management fundamentals. Advanced knowledge of Linux environments including Ubuntu, Red-Hat and other Linux flavours. Solid understanding of Active Directory / Entra Infrastructure, deployment services, Windows OS, and other infrastructure services. Working knowledge of Cloud Platform device management tools/processes, Backup/Recovery practices and Security/Governance tools. Cloud Connectivity, Microsoft Azure Cloud Networking, VNET, Express Route, Traffic Manager Manage M365 Products, Exchange, AD Connect, Teams, SharePoint and Azure/Entra AD Familiar with Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts and implementation Knowledge of SIP protocol, IP virtual trunking and cloud-based VoIP phone systems. Knowledge on Cisco Switching and wireless infrastructure. Knowledge on SIEM, Syslog, SNMP, Sniffer, Tracing, Networking Tools Familiarity with application deployment techniques (and tools) in a distributed environment. Working knowledge of firewalls, IP protocol stack, network and server security, TLS certificates and security best practices. Experience with vulnerability scanners, vulnerability management systems, patch management and host-based security systems Understanding of cloud security best practices. Familiarity with APIs, microservices, Infrastructure as Code using BICEP, Terraform and PowerShell scripting. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities and demonstrated capacity to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Strong customer-service orientation and attention to detail. Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Demonstrated high self-motivation with the ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Good understanding of agile support, values, and procedures including DevOps and SecOps practices. Thorough understanding of technical issues.
