Senior Specialist, Technical Content Development – Hybrid The Opportunity Technical Science & External Innovation (TSEI) Branch of the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is seeking a Senior Specialist, Technical Content Development who will use their finely honed information sharing skills to work with experts and share information on how the Alberta Energy Regulator handles energy liability in the province. The AER’s Liability Management group solves tough problems to protect Alberta’s land and resources for the future. You’ll address challenging issues, ensuring environmental and public safety while maintaining a good work-life balance. The Senior Specialist, Technical Content Development in the Liability Management group will identify issues, gather information, prepare recommendations, and advise AER senior leadership. This role also involves sharing information internally and externally, responding to stakeholders and government entities, planning and executing liability management priorities, and conducting briefings and presentations. What your day-to-day will look like: Develop comprehensive training materials, presentations, and briefing notes for internal stakeholders and in response to the Government of Alberta inquiries. Manage and respond to information requests from key stakeholders, including the AER Board of Directors, CEO, COO, and the Government of Alberta. Coordinate and support the preparation of responses to Freedom of Information requests on behalf of the Liability Management group. Collaborate with subject matter experts to create and deliver presentations for industry information sessions. Lead annual performance reporting for Liability Management. What we’re looking for in you: Diploma in Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related discipline. 7 to 10 years experience in technical writing or strategic planning. Government, stakeholder, Indigenous and/or industry engagement experience is strongly preferred. Familiarity with AER requirements and programs, specifically the Liability Management Framework is considered an asset. Ability to be flexible and adapt to a fluid, rapidly changing and often ambiguous environment. Demonstrates initiative and provides perspectives and ideas in a professional and collaborative manner. Strong written and verbal communication skills, specifically, experience presenting and communicating technical information to a variety of audiences (i.e. government, industry, external committees).
