In this role you, will lead risk support for projects, typically with an estimated capital spend in excess of $50MM. This includes incorporating standard methodologies for risk into internal tools and processes, and ensuring risk is appropriately captured through contingencies for capital projects. You will be expected to collaborate with several other departments and stakeholders to ensure risk is captured for liquids pipelines, gas transmission and storage, utility, new energy technology, and power projects while maintaining the values of the company. Develop, lead, and guide others within Cost Engineering to effectively facilitate and support risk processes and quantification of risk through project definition and contingencies and management reserves. Conduct contingency assessments to ensure contingency levels are appropriate for a range of development classes, project sizes, and lines of business. Facilitate Project Definition sessions for project teams to accurately assess the maturity of projects. Perform due diligence requests to support unique development opportunities within Projects. Own, maintain, and improve the Contingency Estimating Tool, Contingency Estimating Process, Project Definition Rating Process and related documents and templates. Ensure risk quantification methods are aligned with the parameters defined by project maturity requirements and the accuracy of different classes of estimates. Who You Are: Engineering degree. If you reside in Alberta, you are required to have a Professional Engineering designation with APEGA. Six years of experience. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, @RISK or other Monte Carlo simulation software, and other tools as needed. Able to apply computer software and other tools to conduct detailed analyses Clear thinker and effective communicator, both written and oral. Utilizes learning to inform process improvement and proactive changes. This includes using networks to improve own performance: seeks out and adopts new ideas and processes from others.
