In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the safe and reliable operation of our Upgrading Delayed Coking Unit assets. As a Process Operator, you will play a vital role in the Conduct of Safe Operations (CoSO) process – a process within Suncor’s Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) that provides consistent expectations for safe and reliable operations, twenty-four (24) hours, seven (7) days a week. Minimum Requirements: Experience in plant operations such as heavy oil processing, sour gas processing, water treatment/power plants or refinery operations Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make timely decisions under pressure 4th Class Power Engineering certification: ABSA certified High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record Responsibilities & Key Behaviours: Contribute positively to team culture Follow operating processes and procedures to ensure the safety of our people, equipment, and environment Conduct thorough unit rounds, with a critical eye for process and equipment abnormalities Execute daily operating orders, and report on barriers to executing them Prepare and complete daily area log and communicate significant changes and findings during handover Troubleshoot complex process, instrumentation, and mechanical equipment problems Ensure timely action and process adjustments during plant upsets Prepare equipment for maintenance and commissioning Location and other Key Details: You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta The shift schedule is a 6 days on / 6 days off rotation (3 days on, 3 nights on, 6 days off; 12-hour shifts) This position is safety sensitive You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use of ladders and working on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces To learn more about living and working in Fort McMurray, click here Why Suncor?
