Job Description: The Maintenance and Equipment Technician at CapWest will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our rental equipment fleet. The maintenance technician will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions to minimize equipment downtime. Additionally, the technician will assist in preparing equipment for rental, provide customer support regarding proper equipment usage, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients. What You Will Do: Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on rental equipment, including generators, excavators, forklifts (electric and gas), pressure washers, scissor lifts (electric), boom lifts (electric and diesel) and all other rental equipment including hand tools. Assist with creating and tracking checklists for equipment, including pre-use, post-use, damage, etc. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on equipment and save in the corresponding system Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations during all maintenance and repair activities Assist in the setup and teardown of equipment for rental customers, providing training on safe operation as needed Collaborating with team members to improve equipment efficiency and performance Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly Respond to emergency repair requests and provide on-site support when necessary Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in equipment maintenance What You Bring: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant degree is a plus Proven experience as an equipment technician or in a similar role, preferably within the rental industry for a minimum of 3 years Experience in Smartsheet or Texada an asset Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills. Some welding knowledge would be advantage Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers and team members. Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
