Your work environment at EXP
EXP is currently seeking a Hazardous Materials and Air Quality Technologist to work in the Brampton office. The Environmental group is fast-paced and growth oriented, ideally suited for individuals who like to take charge and are driven to build on current successes.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
Conduct building investigations for asbestos, designated substances, mould and other hazardous materials.
Complete assessments for hazardous materials, designated substances, air quality, and workplace exposures independently or as part of a larger group to support clients across buildings, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.
Provide engineering/technical support for projects involving the abatement of the above-mentioned materials.
Collect air and bulk samples during investigations and abatement of the above-mentioned materials.
Analyze phase contrast microscopy (PCM) air samples for asbestos air samples.
Interpretation of laboratory analytical results.
Conduct air quality assessments, including but not limited to: indoor air, data analysis, occupational exposure, ventilation assessments and regulatory reporting.
Indoor and outdoor air quality sampling and monitoring (instrumentation set up, maintenance, calibration, data acquisition and analysis), workplace exposure assessments, and emissions inventory.
Conduct inspections of work being performed at construction sites.
Data collection, dispersion modeling, post-processing, analysis, and reporting of results.
Liaise and communicate with clients and troubleshoot issues independently at the client site.
Report to and take directions from Project Managers and Senior Management.
Prepare of written technical reports pertaining to site investigations and abatement.
Other duties as assigned.
What your experience looks like
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
College Diploma in Environmental or Civil Engineering Technology or Bachelors Degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or Environmental Science.
Strong writing skills including the ability to write reports.
Experience working in a client services environment with developed client service skills.
Must be capable of working with multi-disciplinary groups as well as independently.
Highly motivated and able to work well within a team, fast-paced and client -focused environment.
Very strong organizational skills.
Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
Ability to take and give directions.
Valid G driver’s license and own transportation for regular travel to jobsite.
Must be available to work some weekends, unscheduled hours and nights.
Availability to travel.
Sound knowledge of building construction and pertinent regulations/guidelines considered an asset.
Experience with PCM analysis is considered an asset.
Experience in acoustic assessments considered an asset
1 to 2 years of related experience is a definite asset
