Within CIBC Global Markets, ASG was launched in 2013 with a mandate to develop innovative and creative technology-driven capital markets solutions. This group is an unconventional capital markets organization that combines the innovative spirit and agility of a FinTech startup with the financial strength and strong governance protocol of a major financial institution. ASG has been recognized as a global leader in providing disruptive technological capital markets solutions in several product areas including Cross Border Payments, Dynamic Currency Conversion, International Student Pay, Global Money Transfer, Foreign Cash and other money movement solutions. You’ll be part of the team that focuses on understanding the FinTech industry & disruptive technologies that are revolutionizing traditional banking products and services with a particular focus on FX & payments. You’ll have an opportunity to support the ASG team with product development and growth along with sales and marketing across a number of client types including financial institutions, public sector clients, corporates, higher education institutions, small businesses, and CIBC’s retail branch network. You may also have the opportunity to work with ASG leadership to increase Profit and Loss (PnL) and productivity and be measured on your ability to both expand product capability, distribution and grow PnL. You will be assigned to either a product team or a sales and distribution team, where you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our leaders. Your role will involve presenting insights from data analysis, developing effective solutions with timely execution, as well as continuously monitoring and analyzing market activities and economic factors throughout the day to respond promptly to client requests. Important information You are enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Economics, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) or related program at the time of the internship, with a graduation date no earlier than April 2026. Candidates with a technical undergraduate degree (e.g., Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) are highly valued, as well as those with strong analytical skills and relevant experience from non-STEM backgrounds. How you’ll succeed Passion for financial markets – Demonstrate strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills, with keen interest in the financial markets and proven record of academic success, teamwork and extracurricular involvement. Communication – Partner with your team to make an impact by applying a technical skillset to help generate insights and/or optimize processes. Showcase highly effective written, oral and presentation skills with an ability to explain complex concepts in a simplified way. Business analysis - Formulate solution scope and objectives to meet the business need and validate requirements, testing, training and implementation of applications. Project management – Ensure execution of project control procedures and policies within a number of unrelated large projects. Reporting, analytics and research - Analyze business opportunities and present recommendations to address through analysis, reporting and research. Who you are You have demonstrated interest in Capital Markets. You’ve built a strong knowledge of Capital Markets, FinTech and the financial services industries which allows you to analyze complex issues and identify & develop innovative opportunities, with a focus on FX & payments. You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You're confident in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way. You’re digitally savvy. You are proficient in MS-office suite of tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) and are able to use them for financial modeling, presentations and technical project documentation. You’re passionate about staying up-to-date with emerging technologies. Experience with Salesforce, Python, Power BI, and courses in Artificial Intelligence are preferred.
