Job DescriptionActive Equities is looking to establish a world class solutions enablement function - Platform Solutions, that will empower our edge by overseeing the design, procurement, and development of the infrastructure, data, and tools leveraged across the department. Reporting to the Managing Director of Platform Solutions, the Quantitative Data Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the investment content on behalf of the department acting as a product owner for key data products. This will involve cleaning, enriching, normalising and supporting datasets that are leveraged by various investment teams. You must be a very self-motivated individual and be able to proactively operate in a cross-functional team that is extremely motivated to deliver business results. Through close partnership with investment professionals, you will see firsthand how your contribution is delivering long-term value to the CPP Fund for the benefit of 20 million CPP contributors and beneficiaries.Accountabilities:Work in a fast-paced environment to build cutting edge data and analytical products that are leveraged directly by investment professionals.Build out core data products such as structured time-series data for internally generated data, market data and fundamental data by applying content domain expertise.Develop robust data pipelines to enable the systematic creation of features, portfolios and forecasts.Leverage advanced tools like Databricks and work with SQL/Pyspark to implement complex time series analytics and feature generation.Lead the development and execution of advanced prototypes and products including forecast and backtest engines.QualificationsUniversity degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Math preferred.Hands on experience working with financial times series point-in-time data (e.g. market, fundamental and alternative).Strong communication skills to enable effective collaboration with various stakeholders and key partners across the department and the organization.Experience working with investors (e.g. quantitative or fundamental) is desirable.Experience using cloud computing platforms and associated services (e.g. AWS, GCP or Azure).Exposure to cloud data and analytics platforms (e.g. Databricks and Snowflake).Practical knowledge of data engineering concepts and best practices, including testing frameworks and libraries, automation.Proficient at coding in Python and SQL.Familiar with one or more analytic tools (e.g. Tableau, AWS QuickSight, Looker and Streamlit).Experience building flexible solutions that can adapt quickly to changing requirements.Adaptable to new technologies and challenges not previously encountered.The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years of experience working for an investment management firm in a similar role.
