Our Estimating and Projects Department is looking for an Estimator to join its team in Mississauga! We are looking for a skilled, educated, responsible and reliable candidate to provide support to our growing team. Key Responsibilities: Work with business development and project team members when deciding on project bidding options/decisions. Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Ability to determine key variables for cost and other estimates. Conduct thorough research and investigation to obtain data on labour costs, materials costs, etc. Perform various levels of risk analysis associated with project costing. Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.). Provide consultation on project planning (schedules, labour needs, time requirements, etc.). Resolve various discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. Present prepared estimate(s) by assembling and displaying numerical and description information. Prepare special reports as needed while summarizing information and trends. Travel to job sites in order to gather information to assist in the estimating process. Evaluate a product's cost-effectiveness and/or profitability. Make recommendations on methods to ensure projects are more cost-effective and/or profitable. Follow all established organizational policies and procedures. Support the vision and values of the organization. Promote and participate in a work environment free of workplace harassment and violence. Perform work safely, so as not to endanger oneself or others. Reporting workplace hazards, accidents or other occurrences that may pose a risk to the organization or the safety of oneself or others. Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act. Participate in team/staff meetings when required. Work in a manner that preserves confidentiality and minimizes risk. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: Familiarity with financial and project management principles. In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas. Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities. Extreme attention to detail and thoroughness in his/her work. Must have direct project supervision and/or leadership experience in the environmental, industrial and/or emergency services field. Abilities to liaise with various departmental team members in order to investigate details and gather key pieces of information related to project estimation. Progressive experience in the environmental or waste management industry is considered an asset. Solid understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental legislation as it relates to remediation and waste management projects (an asset). Demonstrated efficiency and time management abilities with respect to his/her work. Above average communication and interpersonal skills, with strong ability to negotiate outcomes that to the greatest extent possible meet the needs of all parties. #GFLTalent We thank you for your interest.
