What You’ll Do:
Assemble and disassemble production equipment for cleaning and sanitizing per established procedures
Read labels on chemicals and cleaning agents to learn about their use. They may also refer to labels for first aid instructions or to refresh their memory about mixing instructions.
Read the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) to learn about the chemicals they will have to use.
When new equipment or new chemicals are introduced into the workplace, new training must occur. WHMIS training is mandatory for sanitation workers.
Measure exact quantities of chemicals and water and have basic arithmetic skills
Accountable for deciding how much time to spend on a particular task. In making this decision the worker must weight a number of factors: time needed for other duties, when the equipment will be used again as examples.
Operate the CIP (clean-in-place) system to clean and sanitize equipment, tanks and pipelines.
Complete record keeping items such as, but not limited to; identifying cleaning cycle times on charts; measuring chemicals cleaning concentration; examining flow rates; assessing heat up temperature; sanitizing by chemical strengths; weekly and monthly and cleaning checklists
Perform basic housekeeping, manual and environmental cleaning of production areas to include floors, walls, ceiling, air vents, lights, drains, interior and exterior of the equipment
Collect requires samples needed for Quality Assurance testing
Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with requirement information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs
Ensure compliance with all HACCP procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
Providing input from the sanitation and food safety perspective, implementing preventative and corrective actions regarding all food safety and SQF requirements.
What you Need to Get the Job Done:
High School Diploma or GED preferred; or one to two years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Able to apply basic arithmetic skill.
Must have a general knowledge of machine operation.
Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.
Ability to use creative thinking for troubleshooting.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and when required holidays.
Obvious enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work.
