Azure Data Engineer
Contract opportunity in the insurance industry for two experienced data engineers. Work on cutting-edge Azure-based data pipelines, support analytics modernization, and lead agile processes in a hybrid role based in Toronto. Responsibilities:
• Develop batch and real-time data pipelines, DevOps pipelines, and end-to-end processes using Microsoft Azure data and analytics PaaS services.
• Lead agile software development activities including roadmap planning, sprint demos, task assignments, code reviews, and design sign-offs.
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions, collaborating with architects, developers, and business analysts.
• Design and build modern data pipelines, data streams, and data service APIs to support cloud-based enterprise data modernization.
• Develop and maintain data warehouse schematics, layouts, architectures, and both relational and non-relational databases.
• Expose data to end-users using platforms such as Power BI, Azure API apps, or other modern visualization tools.
• Mentor team members and facilitate knowledge sharing across departments.
• Identify and recommend architectural improvements to enhance platform scalability and robustness.
What you will need to succeed:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8–10 years of experience designing and developing data warehouses and ETL processes.
• Hands-on experience with ETL and automation using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and PySpark.
• Deep expertise in Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Databases, and Azure Data Factory.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipeline tools including GitHub, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps.
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a collaborative team environment.
