Our Employee Services team is currently seeking a Retail Dealership Human Resources Generalist to join our AutoPlanet Used Car Dealership in Brampton, Ontario.
The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level and works closely with the General Manager and department managers on human capital management initiatives and talent management matters. The HRG carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: performance management, progressive discipline, recruitment, selection, accommodations, training, total rewards and policy compliance. In addition, the position provides support and assistance to the PAG’s Employee Services department with the implementation of processes, policies and procedures.

Here’s what you’ll deliver:
Point of contact for all human resources matters for AutoPlanet Brampton and branch locations
Delivers full-cycle recruitment support, including participating in interviews
Performs recruitment assessments and background checks as required
Responsible for hosting in-house recruitment events
Drafts offer letters and extend the offer of employment to selected candidates
Manages the distribution and processing of new hire documentation, equipment requests, system login and access for new employees
Processes all employee OMVIC new and transfer applications; processes OMVIC cancellations, and tracks and communicates OMVIC renewals prior to expiry
Coordinates internal recruitment activities such as employee transfers and promotions
Provides 1-on-1 training to newly hired AutoPlanet managers and supervisors on company procedures and practices
Responds to all AutoPlanet employee queries on the HR ticket system in a timely manner
Assists General Manager with managing attendance and time off approval procedures
Supports Dealership Department Managers (Service, Parts and Sales) with performance management and progressive discipline matters
Responsible for performing thorough and objective workplace investigations when workplace violations occur or when employee complaints are raised pertaining to employees and department managers
Conducts termination meetings alongside management for all employee-level terminations.
Responsible for the case management of medical leaves
Serve as the point of contact for accommodations and AODA compliance
Serves as co-chair on JHSC for each AutoPlanet branch location; Supports safety programs at all AutoPlanet branch locations
Champions both Dealership level and group-wide employee engagement events/initiatives
Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to Employee Services management to continually improve the efficiency of Employee Services policies and procedures
Assumes other duties as directed by the General Manager and Corporate Employee Services Leadership
What do you need to succeed?
University Degree with postgraduate level training in Human Resources
CHRP designation required
Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources Generalist including full-cycle recruitment experience
Must possess a valid Ontario G or G2 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
Experience working in retail automotive work environments preferred
JHSC Level 1 and 2 certification is considered an asset
Demonstrated ability to provide beneficial recommendations to solve HR related issues related to regulations, laws and policies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to build strong working relationships
Ability to quickly adapt to change and multitask in a fast paced environment
Strong time management skills and attention to detail
Flexibility and adaptability to changing needs and demands with the willingness to work longer hours as circumstances require
Positive “can-do” attitude with ability to work confidently under pressure and manage changing/competing priorities
Motivated individual with proven initiative
Strong computer skills including google sheets, forms and documents with aptitude to learn and embrace the use of technology in day to day duties
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
Must possess high ethical standards; demonstrating utmost honesty, integrity and trustworthiness
Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times

This compensation range will be based on knowledge and experience
Job Type: Full Time - Permanent
Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 per year
