About the Role
Reporting to the Quality Director, the Quality Inspector is responsible for providing technical support to senior project staff (Project Managers, Superintendents, etc.) and conducting required Quality inspections in accordance with the required codes of construction. The incumbent is familiar with the core elements of a construction project, and demonstrates technical proficiency with quality management systems, processes, and tools. The incumbent is also familiar with the majority of the inspection techniques, types of nondestructive examination, and the application of both, and ensures the requirements of Graham Registered Quality Control Manual(s) (QCMs) are implemented, as applicable.
This role will support the infrastructure - water division of Graham. Projects will comprise mostly of civil, concrete and structural work.
As a Quality Inspector at Graham you will:
Conducting critical inspections across multiple projects
Training of staff so they can complete non-critical inspections across multiple projects
Training on all projects and implementation of quality management system
Ensure trades are certified to perform the scope of work assigned
Conduct pre-install meeting with subcontractors and suppliers prior to the start of a new item of work
Ensure implementation of the Project Specific Quality Plan (PSQP) on project site by all project stakeholders
Ensure the implementation and the regular updating of the Inspection and Test Plan(s) (ITP)
Conduct site inspections as detailed in the ITP(s)
Review Quality related documents submitted by subcontractors
Request testing by independent testing agencies
Manage and track the Deficiency Management Process
Issue or review all project Surveillance Reports (FSR) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR)
Implement use of InEight Completions tool
Conduct Quality orientation of new trades on project site
Helping with bids for tender assessments
Assist in documenting lessons learned
Qualifications/Experience:
Post-secondary education, trade certification, or equivalent experience
Minimum 4 years of relevant industry experience
Familiar with Alberta and City of Edmonton Infrastructure requirements
CWB level 1 certification is an asset
Certification as required by Code of Construction or client specifications
Previous construction experience in a quality role
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Solid presentation skills and verbal / written communication skills
Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Working Conditions
The majority of work is completed on job sites in an office trailer or existing on-site structure. Due to daily condition changes on construction projects, when employees are outside of the office trailer or structure, they must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the company's safety policies and as required for weather conditions.
