We are looking for a positive and forward-thinking Risk and Governance Manager specializing to join the Technology Strategic Initiatives and Risk team. The ideal candidate will have outstanding collaboration and interpersonal skills, good communication and expertise knowledge and experience. This role will report directly into the Head of Technology Strategic Initiatives and Risk and will be a key role within IT’s first line risk and control team and critical to ensuring a strong risk culture across the department. This job exists to support the Tech Strategic Initiatives and Risk Lead in managing the day-to-day operations of the first line risk and control team. This includes direct people leadership of 5-6 Aviva employees, 2-3 contracting resources and intermittent oversight of consulting support. The scope of the team includes financial control assessments, reporting and MI expert(s) and risk generalists that support the wider team. What you'll do Reporting to the Tech Strategic Initiatives and Risk Lead, lead governance and reporting for on behalf of the Office of the local CIO, the Financial Reporting Control testing supporting the external audit team and reporting and governance across the IT risk and control team Own workforce planning for the risk and control team on an annual basis reporting to the Tech Initiatives and Risk lead including BAU activities, reporting, engagement model and process improvement projects Oversee and take ownership of: Financial control assessments supporting the external auditor MI and reporting production as it relates to supporting the wider IT Senior Leadership team The preparation for the regular IT Senior Leadership team Risk and Control meeting, chaired by the Tech Strategic Initiatives and Risk Lead attended by the local Chief Information Officer (CIO) The preparation of operational and workforce planning MI to support the Tech Strategic Initiatives and Risk Lead including BAU activities, engagement model and process Process improvement projects within the risk and control team The production of management committee and Board IT and Cyber risk papers Training, development and driving continuous improvement for the risk and control team Contribute to (and lead where appropriate) wider small to medium improvement projects / process reengineering Take ownership for own development ensuring objectives are met and personal development plan in place Provide support, leadership, and mentoring directly to 4-5 risk and to achieve high levels of performance What you'll bring Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Engineering, with a background in the insurance industry would be an asset. College Diploma or equivalent work experience in insurance. 3 - 5 years of experience working within first, second- or third-line risk and control ideally within technology and/or Cyber Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with teams and get results through a collaborative approach with collaborators Strong analytical and project management skills Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities Broad knowledge and understanding of P&C insurance Self-starter with a quick learning ability Solid ability to handle and resolve business problems Effective interpersonal, leadership, and relationship-building skills in engaging with various levels of management. Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends and communicate actionable conclusions Strong strategic and critical thinking skills. Experience using GRC risk management tools.
