THE OPPORTUNITY Reporting to the Senior Manager, Investment Education, the Advisor, Investment Education is responsible for supporting the Senior Manager and Senior Advisor in planning and producing client and employee education programs, events, and materials. This role will lead the Investment Literacy Workshops and Client Roundtables, plan and lead the development of ad hoc investment education videos and provide support for planning and materials for Investment Insight Visits. The Advisor collaborates with members of the broader CIR team and with individuals throughout BCI and our strategic partners to develop and deliver high-quality education and knowledge-building events that protect and enhance BCI’s brand and reputation. Additionally, the Advisor supports the day-to-day operations and tactical needs of the Investment Education program. WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH The Corporate & Investor Relations (CIR) department plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing BCI's relationships with its clients and stakeholders through world-class engagement and has three core functions: Client Partnerships, Strategic Communications and Corporate & Brand Communications. CIR is responsible for understanding the clients' needs and representing their interests within the organization, helping them develop investment strategies and policies, and communicating effectively with both internal and external audiences. The Strategic Communications branch deepens BCI’s relationships across its clients, internal teams, and employees through the development and implementation of broad engagement, communication, and visual brand strategies that build awareness, understanding, and knowledge of BCI’s organization and investment strategies. WHAT YOU BRING Post-secondary education, preferably in business, marketing, communications, adult learning or related experience Three to five years of experience in internal and/or client engagement and communication, preferably in the investment or financial sector Two to five years of experience in event planning and/or project management A solid conceptual and technical understanding of investment principles and practices spanning all asset classes (Fixed Income; Public Equities, Mortgages, Real Estate, Infrastructure & Private Equity) Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders Strong project and time management skills with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment Experience developing digital content and using digital platforms and content management systems Experience with budgets and financial tracking Proven ability to effectively engage and manage stakeholders, staff, and volunteers Strong computer skills: Microsoft 365; digital apps and platforms Preference will be given to candidates with project management certifications such as the PMP or CAPM and completion of the CFA Institute Investment Foundations® Program or Canadian Securities Course WHAT YOU WILL DO Leads Development and Production of BCI’s Client and Employee Investment Education and Events Leads the execution of project plans for client and internal investment education programs and events, including event design, program and content development, speaker management, facility booking, food and beverage arrangements, audio-visual provisioning, and registration systems Plans, manages, and delivers BCI educational programs and events such as Investor Day, educational workshops, client webcasts, investment speaker webcast for employees, BCI Academy and tours of BCI’s portfolio companies Leads speaker scheduling, preparation, and event day coordination Creates compelling investment-related content and deliverables, including written materials, presentations, videos, webcasts, podcasts, and thought leadership articles Supports the development and implementation of communication strategies which includes preparing scripts for senior executives, creating storyboards and production plans, and planning and directing videos Supports the preparation of presentations related to client events in accordance with the BCI visual brand and data visualization strategies Corporate Responsibilities Works closely with members of CIR and BCI teams to strengthen client confidence and trust in BCI Develops and maintain strong relationships with all clients, BCI’s asset classes and internal teams, and service providers Contributes to the development of BCI’s client-centric culture (Lunch and Learns, BCI Intranet, etc.) Serves as the acting Senior Advisor, Investment Education when required Leads and/or supports special projects aligned with BCI’s client communication program WHERE YOU WILL WORK Work from our downtown Victoria office. We are an in-person collaborative organization, while offering the flexibility to work remotely one day a week. SALARY RANGE BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off. The annualized base salary range for this role is CAD $87,000 to $105,000. The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we compete for talent and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
