People with cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and risk factors for CVD are disproportionately affected by adverse events related to climate hazards. Therefore, this postdoctoral position will focus on conducting a study to 1) determine the perceived health impacts of hot and cold weather in people with or at risk for CVD; 2) determine the integration of climate-sensitive health counselling and formal education in rehabilitation programs; 3) identify priority areas of future research to minimize the impact of climate hazards. Co-design and working with people with lived experience is a focus of this study. The candidate will also be working with a multidisciplinary group of researchers including environmental physiologists, medical practitioners, cardiovascular clinicians, and experts in co-design/integrated knowledge translation and patient engagement.Duties1. Lead assigned project(s)
2. Co-develop surveys with people with lived experience.
3. Work closely with a community-based steering committee that will include a broad representation of people with CVDs and risk factors for CVDs, and their caregivers.
4. Organize and lead a consensus workshop of the community-based steering committee and researchers to reach an agreement on research priorities.
5. Publish peer-reviewed journal papers and present data at national and international conferences
QualificationsCompleted their PhD in a related area.
• Experience with patient engagement and co-design.
• Questionnaire design and analysis
• Preferred background in environmental studies.
• Ability to independently manage a project
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Strong organization skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
