M&A Research and Operations Team Lead | Hamilton Portfolio Hybrid-Toronto (1 day in Office/Week) Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated individual to lead our Mergers and Acquisitions Research and Operations function. Reporting to a Portfolio Manager, this role is essential in supporting the M&A team by providing timely, accurate, and well-organized information on potential businesses and products. The research and operations team plays a key role in ensuring a full pipeline of deal opportunities that have the opportunity to convert to completed deals and ensures the M&A team is thoroughly prepared for sales processes. Job Responsibilities: Research and Analysis Oversee the collection, organization, and synthesis of data on prospective businesses, products, and market trends to build the sales pipeline and support the M&A business development team. Ensure the accuracy and relevance of all research materials, company data, reports, and presentations. Pipeline Operations Management Manage the flow of leads to the M&A business development team to advance through the pipeline. Oversee the quality of the lead pipeline and its documentation in Salefore.com. Provide accurate and timely reporting of the M&A deal pipeline. Collaboration with M&A Team Work closely with the M&A business development team to define research requirements, priorities, and deliverables. Act as the primary liaison between the research team and the M&A business development team, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Prepare and present insights and findings to the M&A business development team, Portfolio Manager, and other stakeholders. Process Optimization Identify and implement tools, methodologies, and best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the research process. Continuously improve workflows and systems to streamline information management and reporting. Competencies: Analytical Thinking: Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and identify strategic opportunities. Leadership and Team Management: Proven experience in guiding teams, fostering collaboration, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. Research Skills: Proficient in data collection, market research, and synthesizing information from various sources. Process Creation and Operational Execution: Proven experience creating and managing processes that cross teams. Communication Skills: Expertise in presenting insights effectively to stakeholders and drafting professional reports. Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and financial research tools. Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent). 2+ years experience in M&A research, software, corporate strategy, or a related field. Preference for sales operations experience.
