I feel welcome and at home.” View more comments from our clients and their family members Support frontline healthcare staff by delivering Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in Toronto Volunteer Delivery Drivers deliver Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Personal Support Workers, Nurses or other frontline home healthcare staff at various locations in Toronto. Volunteer Delivery Drivers pick-up PPE from VHA and deliver it to designated staff between 9:00 a.m. –4:00p.m. Wednesday to Friday. The locations and times of each assignment depend upon the availability of each volunteer and the established delivery schedule. Purpose: This role ensures that healthcare staff receive resources that are required to support safety while providing essential healthcare services. Area Served: Toronto: Scarborough, North York, East York, York, and Toronto Schedule: Schedule to be determined and agreed by the volunteer in collaboration with the service coordinator, depending upon needed deliveries, delivery locations, schedule, & Volunteer availability Responsibilities Volunteer uses their own vehicle to pick up PPE from VHA Home HealthCare and deliver it to staff Volunteers are provided with a destination address, contact and phone number, and will deliver PPE packages to VHA staff ensuring that it is received Deliveries are ‘no contact’ and physical distancing is practiced VHA Staff load PPE into the vehicle at pick-up At the PPE delivery location, a staff supervisor may collect PPE from the volunteer’s vehicle Alternatively, volunteers deliver PPE to a location and stay on-site to distribute it to staff Skill Requirements / Qualifications Committed, Trustworthy, Reliable, Punctual, Friendly, Flexible, Independent, Safe Driver, Committed to safety, physical distancing & public health and infection prevention and control requirements Valid Driving License and good driving record – Driver Form & Waiver provided by VHA must be signed by volunteer Proof of valid driving license and insurance Time Commitment 4 hours per week (more if desired) between 9am-4pm Wednesday – Friday with specific days and times to be determined with each individual volunteer Volunteers may take as few or as many shifts per week as preferred Boundaries Maintain privacy and confidentiality of all information that you may have access to through your role, including but not limited to names, locations/ addresses, and telephone numbers Maintain physical distancing and adhere to all public health and infection prevention and control requirements Maintain vehicle in good working order Maintain valid vehicle/driver’s licenses and insurance Training, Support Online training prior to volunteering Ongoing support and communication with Coordinators/Supervisor Screening Process Orientation, Prescreening Interview 2 Supervisory References Driver Form, Policies, and Waiver Vulnerable Sector Screening (Level 3 Police Check), Working Conditions Driving own car, transporting PPE and essential goods Engagement with VHA staff and clients Outdoors, All weather conditions BENEFITS Volunteers are supported through orientation, training, (online and in person) meetings, workshops, seminars, and one-to-one support.
