Responsibilities Assesses, treats and documents care of inpatients and outpatients referred for speech-language pathology services in compliance with organizational, departmental, legal, regulatory and professional requirements. Organizes and conducts speech therapy programs for acquired communication and cognition, and swallowing disorders, to restore function, maximize independence, and prevent or correct disability following disease, injury, or illness.
Qualifications Master of Science, Arts, or Education degree in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA accredited institution. Must be licensed in the state of Arizona in Speech-Language Pathology. Must have a Certificate of Clinical Competency from ASHA. Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
Experience and competence in evaluation and treatment of patients with dysphagia, including performing VFSS/MBS. Experience and certification in FEES is desired, but not required.
Applicants with recent and intermediate-advanced level medical background in Speech-Language Pathology are desired.
Clinical Fellow applicants will be considered only in exceptional cases. Candidates must be nearing completion of their fellowship and demonstrate strong clinical skills and prior experience in highly complex medical settings.
Adheres to Mayo Clinic Business Professional Dress Code and Mayo Clinic departmental Policies and Procedures. Follows safe work practices. Demonstrates use of appropriate and accurate evaluation or treatment procedures in patients with dysphagia, motor speech deficits, language deficits, and communication-cognitive deficits.

Hours/Pay PeriodSupplemental/PRN, as needed based on staffing.
Schedule DetailsWeekday shifts as needed to assist with high census, scheduled at discretion of supervisor. Rotating assigned holidays.
Weekend ScheduleMinimum of two weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) per month, additional shifts encouraged if able.
