Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) Specialist based in Western Canada to support the AECOM SH&E program for the Western Canada geography and projects. The successful candidate will be capable of executing the following responsibilities of this position with limited supervision:Responsibilities and Duties:Maintain knowledge of current SH&E industry standards and government agency requirements. Exhibit knowledge and apply fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in safety, health and environment Independently determine and develop approaches and solutions to SH&E related issues and concerns. Develop, implement and maintain safety and health programs, systems and procedures. Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards. Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice. May administer an SH&E program on a small or medium-sized projectMay assist in conducting and coordination of SH&E audits across CanadaCollaboration with managers/supervisors and all levels of the organization to identify requirements and solutions for offices and projects with considerations given to regulations, job hazards, and suggested or required methods of control.Working with other functional leads, management and leadership to effectively integrate safety in quality, HR, finance, marketing and other aspects of the business.Support SH&E Committees for effective implementation of the SH&E program at the local levels.Develop and implement various levels of training including awareness, assessment and performance.Investigate incidents and work with operations and functional leads in finding resolution and appropriate corrective actions; develop communications to appropriate supervisors and employees on the lessons learned.Prepare and analyze SH&E data for trends and provide regular reports and summaries to management and staff.Collaborate with other SH&E professionals within AECOM in implementing the AECOM SH&E programVisit offices and project sites to conduct SH&E reviewsQualificationsMinimum:BA/BS or advanced degree in Occupational Health, Safety, and/or Environment or related technical discipline plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationMust possess a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and ability to drive an AECOM-provided motor vehicle.Demonstrative regulatory knowledge and expertise regarding Canadian federal and provincial and territorial SH&E laws and regulationsFrequent travel across Canada (mainly in Western and Norther regions) with overnight stays will be required and may account for approx. 20% of the time.Experience in heavy civil and general building construction, and design and engineering Preferred Qualifications:Proficient and experience in written business communications skillsExperience working in a team environmentExperience with multi-tasking within a fast-paced work environmentRecognized credentials (i.e. CIH, CRSP) are favorableAdditional InformationAbout AECOM AECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
