Hours of Work 40 hours per week Department Recreation, Community & Culture Location This position is required to work in-person at various sites across the city. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands. Position Overview This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe facility/environment, which meets the high expectations of the facilities patrons, providing janitorial, minor mechanical maintenance, room set ups and take downs as well as providing customer service to patrons of the facility. Responsibilities Working in a variety of community centre/indoor pool locations and reporting to the Supervisor, RCC Facility Operations, responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Ensuring the facilities are clean, safe and available for patrons in a fast-paced multi-use environment. Ensuring the City of Burlington’s facilities are maintained and operated safely, efficiently, and to patron’s satisfaction. Ensuring pools, community centres, and special facilities meet required regulations. Maintain safety including Fire Inspections, Staff Safety and Patron Safety Ensure compliance of Federal, Provincial, Municipal, and City of Burlington regulations as required. Coordinate contracted services for a variety of disciplines (HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, security, etc.) Main point of contact for rental groups, contracted services, and internal clients Provide training, task supervision and scheduling for part-time staff to ensure facility needs are met. Requirements The successful candidate will have formal training or relevant three (3) years’ experience in HVAC, energy management and building automation controls. Will hold a valid Certified Pool Operator designation, WHMIS, CPR and First Aid certifications. The successful candidate will have knowledge of relevant occupancy code requirements (Ontario Building Code, Fire Code) and OADA standards. The ability to supervise staff including strong leadership and training skills, and general computer experience is also required. The following certifications and/or experience are considered an asset: Building management and operations Exposure to Community Recreation facilities Experience working with monitoring/reporting on facility operating budgets Experience with a building automation system Strong communication, organizational skills and the ability to solve problems both independently and in a team environment are a must in this position. The successful applicant will be required to work a varied schedule depending on the needs of facilities which will include days, evenings, and weekends. A valid G Class driver’s licence is required with an acceptable driver’s abstract (no more than three (3) driving related convictions or an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire).
