You’ll be joining a fast-paced manufacturing site in the healthcare sector, where operational excellence, employee well-being and compliance with strict EHS standards are non-negotiable. This is a strategic role for someone passionate about sustainability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Your Role
As the HSE Specialist, you’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs across the site. You’ll ensure the organization complies with applicable legislation, maintains high safety standards, and fosters a culture of prevention and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with OHSA, WSIA, and relevant environmental regulations.
Develop and maintain EHS programs and training.
Implement and oversee ISO 13485, ISO 45001, and CSA standards.
Lead audits, investigations, and implement corrective actions.
Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with environmental laws.
Conduct industrial hygiene assessments (air quality, ergonomics, noise, chemical exposure).
Coordinate emergency preparedness plans and conduct drills.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support a culture of compliance and improvement.
What You Bring
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
3–5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 45001, GMP and environmental legislation.
Strong communication, training, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS software.
Assets:
Experience in greenfield/start-up environments.
Knowledge of the City of London regulatory context.
Lean manufacturing experience.
Certifications such as CRSP or CIH.
