Position Description The McGill University Department of Psychiatry in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Jewish General Hospital (JGH) are currently inviting applications for a full-time position as member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical). This will be a three-year, renewable appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The JGH offers a full range of services for children, youth, adults and geriatric patients (inpatients and outpatients). There are active research programs in trans-cultural psychiatry, psychosocial health, psychotherapy and family therapy, sleep and aging, and first episode psychosis. Our dedicated team of experts are committed to providing excellent clinical care in an academic environment using an integrative approach of family systems and biopsychosocial models and a full range of evidence-based treatments. Job Duties The successful candidate will be involved in the academic activities of the McGill University Department of Psychiatry. The incumbent will be appointed to clinical practice at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH); they will be expected to have a broad range of clinical abilities and aptitudes for working in interdisciplinary teams within the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program. The successful candidate will also be expected to have demonstrated experience in education and/or have an active research dossier. The incumbent will be expected to provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to residents and medical students, participate in hospital and administrative activities, and pursue scholarly activities. The clinical activities will cover both the JGH Child Psychiatry Day Hospital (early childhood team) and the Child and Youth External Services. Emergency department call duty will be performed at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH). The successful candidate will be expected to be actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill’s academic mission (e.g., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. Qualifications and Education Requirements Candidates must: Hold an MD, and be eligible for, licensure as a psychiatrist in the province of Quebec; Hold a subspecialty degree in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; Demonstrate advanced capacity to engage in all aspects of a university affiliated psychiatry department (i.e., clinical, education, and/or research); Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec.
