The Haskayne School of Business is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Manager, Programs.
The Manager, Programs plays a key leadership role within the Haskayne School of Business , reporting to the Associate Dean, Graduate Programs, with accountability to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Program. This position works closely with the Manager, Teaching and Learning Operations in the Programs Office and the HSB Student Services Team. This role directly supports HSB Program Directors and collaborates with faculty, professional staff, and colleagues across the university to ensure the effective development, delivery and continuous improvement of the school's current and future accredited graduate and undergraduate degree and certificate programs.
Under the leadership of the Associate Deans, Graduate and Undergraduate Programs, this role manages a team of 6-10 professional staff, overseeing all aspects of program development from conception to launch including program review and the approval process for curriculum and program changes. In addition, this role oversees faculty development, building on the best practices in teaching and learning. This role coordinates the academic integrity processes and ensures compliance with university regulations. The Manager, Programs operates in a complex and dynamic environment requiring broad knowledge of university and provincial government processes and is responsible for setting goals and leading team performance while ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Due to operational requirements, this role is predominantly on-campus. Primary working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. (35 hours per week). Due to shifting priorities, flexibility is required including some evening and weekend hours.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Program Design, Development, Delivery and Modification
- Guides the design, development, implementation and review of current and future graduate and undergraduate programs
- Conducts comprehensive market and competitor analysis to inform current and future program development, design and modification ¿ including research, financial planning, proposal writing, curriculum development, program approvals and implementation
- Ensures Program Directors receive consistent, high-quality support by coordinating staff efforts and aligning resources to meet program needs
- Acts as the escalation point for Program Directors when support gaps arise
- Collaborates with leadership, program directors, faculty and professional staff on curriculum and course design, ensuring an evidence-based, student-centric approach, while ensuring the financial viability of the programs
- Represents the HSB Programs Office on university committees and working groups
- Evaluation, Process and Reporting
- Collects and analyzes data, including from current students and alumni, for accreditation, rankings, and program quality assurance
- Prepares reports and recommendations for academic leadership to inform decision-making
- Plays a leadership role in the HSB's program accreditation and continuous improvement processes
- Supports faculty development to ensure compliance with governing legislation (e.g., university, provincial, AACBS) and in pursuit of student excellence
- Manages or collaborates on curriculum processes, including calendar changes, grade approvals, other grading processes, such as change of grades, deferrals and exam accommodations
- Collaborates on the course timetabling to ensure a student-centric solution for optimal course offerings, classroom assignments and minimal conflicts
- Keeps informed of and anticipates changes to university and / or HSB policies that will influence program design or outcomes
- Monitors program budgets and ensures cost-effective, high quality program delivery.
Ensures all "owned" processes have up to date standard operating procedures, service level expectations and measures of actual attainment and opportunities for continuous improvement - Compliance and Risk Management
- Oversees the academic integrity processes, including student academic and non-academic misconduct, and academic standing issues
- Ensures compliance with AACSB accreditation and Learning and Teaching Standards (previously Assurance of Learning)
- Maintains awareness of changes in university and government policy impacting programs
- Ensure all programs comply with university policies and relevant legislation
- Leadership, Team Development, Training and Mentorship
- Mentors and develops staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and excellence
- Leads recruitment, onboarding and performance management of the team, ensuring full compliance with University policies and procedures
- Encourages professional development and continuous learning in alignment with the HSB strategic plan
- Ongoing workload management and ability to delegate effectively across team of direct reports
- As required, support the Associate Deans, Graduate and Undergraduate Programs with special projects and other initiatives to advance the HSB's strategic plan
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Master's degree in education, business, an area of analytics, or a related field
- Minimum of seven years experience in a post-secondary environment, with an emphasis on program development, administration, or institutional analysis
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a complex multi-disciplinary environment while complying with human resource policies and practices
- Skilled in handling sensitive issues with professionalism and empathy, knowing when to escalate or redirect
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision, allocating workload across a team to achieve the desired goals and objectives
- Champion of continuous improvement with deep understanding of end-to-end processes; skilled in process documentation, team training, and leveraging technology for operational excellence
- Experience interpreting and applying university and provincial regulations and processes related to the development and delivery of accredited academic programs and credentials
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and team development skills
- Strong business acumen, including budgeting and resource management
- Develops and reports on service levels and KPIs to track performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of technology and software platforms, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, D2L, as well as communication platforms such as Teams and Zoom
