Summary Hamilton Kent is seeking for a Cutter to join their team. Cutting is the production process of cutting strip rubber to specified lengths. Location: 77 Carlingview Dr, Etobicoke, ON M9W 5E6 Principle Accountabilities Ensure materials have been approved by the Quality Control department. Verify that the painted logo is accurate on the strip rubber or print the correct logo following the Lead Hand’s guidelines. Blow air through the strip rubber tube to identify any pinholes. Adjust the cut length on either the automatic or manual cutter. Proceed with the cutting process. Make certain that the cut ends are straight and form a 90-degree angle. Confirm that Quality Control performs a first-off check. Evaluate and document the cut length every half hour. Place the cut pieces onto a cart and fill out the ID tag. Weigh and log any scrap material. Record and document all necessary information accurately. Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervision to ensure production goals are met. Be capable of meeting and upholding the company’s quality and production standards. Adhere to all company policies and procedures. Operate the printer, manual cutter, or automatic cutter as required. HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Adhere to all pertinent federal, provincial, and local health and safety legislative requirements Comply with Hamilton Kent’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy as well as relevant procedures and safety rules. Immediately report any unsafe practice/condition or any accident/incident to KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS Read write and speak basic English Must be able to use or can be trained on various types of measuring tools related to our gasket manufacturing process. COMPLEXITY & JUDGEMENT Encounters quality issues & machine faults which need to be reported to the Shift Supervisor CONTACTS Interacts on a daily basis with Shift Supervisor, Lead Hand & Q.A. Inspector Occasional interaction with Health & Safety Coordinator and Production Manager WORKING CONDITIONS Incumbent spends almost 100% of his/her time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of light physical labour. Lifting, pulling, pushing (less than 25 lbs.), standing and walking covers the majority of the work. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, and the use of equipment with sharp blades Incumbent understands, respects and adheres to the workplace Health & Safety rules and regulations which are derived from the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
