About Us
BC Unclaimed is a non-profit organization that stores unclaimed money in British Columbia. Unclaimed money gets left behind in courts, insurance payments, credit union accounts, and other types of accounts. We help reunite people with this unclaimed money.
We also support charities throughout British Columbia by donating unclaimed funds to the Vancouver Foundation and partnering with them for our recruitment needs.

Purpose of the Job
The Administrator provides administrative support to the management team and a high level of service to individuals looking for unclaimed property and to holders wishing to submit property to the Society.
Administrators assess and recommend claims for approvals, and work with the BC Unclaimed database to produce comprehensive, accurate, and timely information for the public. The administrator(s) provide information to the public regarding claiming and submitting unclaimed funds and actively search for the rightful owners of unclaimed funds.
Key Accountabilities
Receives, examines, and enters data from claimants and holders into PIMS database
Initiates owner searches through a variety of databases, tracks and follows up on results
Provides advice to claimants regarding procedures for claiming or submitting property
Responds to general inquiries regarding unclaimed property
Prepares files, reviews, summarizes, and makes recommendations on Public Guardian and Trustee estate and Court files
Prepares error-free board packages for quarterly Board of Directors meetings
Provides administrative support to the Executive Director, Manager, and Finance Director.
Qualifications and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required Experience:
Post-secondary education
Wills/estates paralegal or legal assistant experience an asset
3-5 years of relevant administrative experience
Not-for-profit experience is an asset
Skills and Attributes
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong computer and database management skills
Superb knowledge of Word, Excel, Office, Teams, Adobe
Multi-tasking skills and a high level of organizational abilitity
Proactive attention to detail
Works well under limited supervision and as a team member
Must respect a high level of confidentiality
Can implement and maintain a well-organized filing and retrieval system
Ensure that all materials/tasks are handled in a time-sensitive and organized manner
Familiarity with regulations relating to Unclaimed Property such as the:
Financial Institutions Act and the Real Estate Services Act
Strong computer and database management skills
Creative, innovative – ability to change/adjust quickly
Ability to work under pressure and within a limited timeframe due to high volumes
Flexible and ethical
Commitment to ongoing learning
Duties & Tasks
The BC Unclaimed Property Society is committed to continuous improvement; in your role, you will be part of a progressive and innovative not-for-profit that values excellent public service. This is a flexible, hybrid position requiring a minimum of one day per week in the office and additional days as needed for operational or team-building purposes.
Internal Relationships:
The Administrator works closely on a daily basis with the Management team, coordinator, and other Administrators. The Administrator also assists with the database improvement projects.

Direct Reports: none
External Relationships:
Works with applicants/claimants, holders of unclaimed property, and the general public on the phone, online, and through other correspondence.
Salary
$58,000 annually plus a pension plan and a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
