Department Overview The Finance Business Unit (BU) Support team is responsible for budgeting, management reporting/analysis, and special projects for Fidelity Canada’s various business areas. The team’s main focus is to support these business areas in achieving their objectives by identifying issues, recommending solutions, providing financial transparency and value-added financial assessments. This is achieved by establishing strong relationships with these internal client groups while meeting the needs and interests of all stakeholders. This role specifically supports the Products team at Fidelity Investments Canada. How You’ll Make an Impact The Finance Manager will be responsible for providing Finance support on larger projects of strategic or business importance by providing consulting, planning, and end-to-end business case support for these projects. This role will be required to build strong partnerships with business leaders and colleagues by providing appropriate financial stewardship, guidance, and strategic support. This role will reside in the Finance department, specifically on BU Support team reporting to the Director Finance (Business Support), while directly supporting projects and assignments relating to Business or Finance strategy or operations. Primary Responsibilities 1. Lead Business Case Development on behalf of Finance for strategic Business and Finance projects. Ability to distill and convey complex subject matter in simple terms. Ability to deliver effective presentations to senior management including the President, CFO, and Senior Executive Team. Ability to develop end-to-end financial models, conduct sensitivity analysis and developing compelling insights for executive-level audiences. 2. Lead Pricing Analysis and Strategy for Retail channel Working with the Products team and Finance team, lead the financial analysis on new Product pricing requests Create and maintain complex financial models in order to properly evaluate new business proposals, with a focus on bottom line impact, NPV & ROI Have or develop a thorough understanding of Fidelity’s products in order to best support pricing requests Communicate with relevant stakeholders (ie. legal, compliance), ensuring any non-financial considerations are properly reflected in the business case In partnership with Director Finance Business Support, present business cases in clear and concise terms, for executive committee review. Own pricing repository and records, ensuring accurate pricing is communicated and reflected in the billing system. 3. Support Market, Industry, and Competitive research as required. Evaluate macro industry dynamics as they relate to industry trends on flows, pricing strategy, new business markets and opportunities under evaluation. Determine mechanism for measuring competitive positioning and market share. 4. Identify and coordinate areas of cross-functional Finance support for business projects (e.g. Accounting, Tax, Analytics, Reporting). Determine key stakeholders relating to new business opportunities and ensure relevant information is integrated into business cases and financial models. 5. Lead Business Planning and Forecast efforts across your responsible areas. Successful identification and inclusion of relevant direct and indirect resources required for inclusion in long-term business plans. Consolidate and analyze data from a wide variety of sources, working with multiple stakeholders within prescribed timelines to complete an accurate budget / forecast Develop appropriate key performance indicators / success measures relating to projects and business cases and develop post implementation assessments against the relevant measures. 6. Participate on Project Team, Working Committee, or Steering Committees as Finance lead 7. Develop Presentation / Reporting Content In partnership with Director Finance Business Support, develop business cases and relevant analysis for new sales opportunities. Develop and lead analysis on financial implications of pricing decisions. Design new reports and analytics to address needs of the business and proactively anticipate future requirements, including monthly management reports. What we’re looking for 4+ years’ experience working in Financial Analysis role within a Finance department. University degree with a focus in Accounting, Business, Commerce, Economics, or related field or equivalent work experience. Completion of a CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) or MBA The following are considered an asset: 2+ years in Finance Manager or equivalent role. Financial Services industry experience. Previous experience with pricing strategy. The Expertise You Bring Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to create complex financial models and sensitivity analysis. Strong financial and business acumen, being able to translate financial concepts into business terminology. Demonstrated time management & project management fundamentals. Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment where business conditions and projects continually change. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Strong organization and time management skills. Experience working and collaborating with peers, managers, and leaders. Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and partners, and within Finance. Please note: Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.
