JOB OVERVIEW
LEP is seeking a driven and experienced Project Leader to join our Commercial Projects team. The successful candidate will lead, coordinate, and deliver assigned projects within a multidisciplinary matrix environment. This role includes responsibility for project documentation and ensures that Project and Contract Management governance aligns with applicable Quality Assurance standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Working in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations:
Lead, coordinate, and manage all phases of project execution, from initiation to closeout, in alignment with Project Management governance standards.
Apply approved Project Management methodologies, including phase-gating, integration, scope, schedule, budget, change control, estimating, communications, stakeholder engagement, reporting, and risk management.
Execute project management activities throughout the full lifecycle to ensure delivery of objectives within safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets.
Contribute to project planning by providing background information, participating in scope and constructability reviews, and leading the development of Business Case Summaries for senior leadership, the Executive Office, and/or the Board of Directors.
Lead the development and approval of project charters, estimates, schedules, risk and management plans, gate packages, and performance specifications.
Establish systems for estimating and monitoring project costs and schedules. Engage stakeholders to ensure requirements are fully captured during the planning phase.
Coordinate the acquisition of required approvals, licenses, permits, and clearances from internal and external agencies. Support labour planning and facilitate timely resolution of design clarifications and scope changes.
Oversee the preparation of specifications, scopes of work, bid packages, tender evaluations, and purchasing recommendations.
Lead meetings to coordinate efforts among design, supply, construction, and operations teams. Maintain close collaboration with construction and operations personnel on design, schedule, and cost issues.
Provide regular project updates and reports to management. Monitor performance and implement corrective actions as needed. Manage scope changes and risks with appropriate mitigation strategies.
Identify, resolve, or escalate project issues to ensure timely achievement of project deliverables and compliance with defined processes.
Oversee contract management throughout all stages of the contracting process. Recommend adjustments to resource allocations as needed.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure clear role definitions and alignment with project and contract requirements.
Maintain ongoing communication with field construction and operations staff to address design, scheduling, and cost concerns before and after contract award.
Analyze and report on cost and schedule performance. Review variances, recommend corrective measures, and implement approved changes.
Evaluate risk at all project stages and develop mitigation plans to address potential issues proactively.
Perform additional project management functions as required in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for dynamic, results-driven professionals who have the following qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of nuclear industry experience
Extensive Project management, specifically, experience in developing project requirements and plans, preparing cost estimates, participating in request for proposal (RFP) and contract bidding and award processes, managing projects through Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) execution phases, and managing project closeout.
OPG security clearance is considered an asset.
Experience as a Modification Team Lead (MTL), and familiarity of the Engineering Change Control (ECC) process is considered an asset
Managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality.
Familiarity with CANDU nuclear generating station equipment and processes or similar heavy industry environments.
Demonstrated interest and passion for the advancement of medical isotopes is considered an asset.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to offer effective guidance.
Knowledge of cost accounting and forecasting as it relates to project management.
Knowledge and experience with commercial contracting methods, contract management, construction methods, codes and standards, quality assurance and health and safety.
Proven ability to work as part of a team and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to meet project goals.
Experience and knowledge related to environmental protection and associated concerns.
Experience managing increasingly complex projects is considered an asset. Project complexity would normally be defined by multiple-contract, multiple stakeholder projects with schedule constraints.
