Job Title: Employer Engagement Officer
Location: St. John’s, NL
Position Type: 1 full-time position until March 31, 2025 with possibility of extension pending budget availability and satisfactory performance

Reporting to the Director of Employment Services, the Employer Engagement Officer, for the recruitment of newcomer employees, will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with employers to facilitate the successful placement of newcomers into the labour force. The incumbent will work closely with employers, career practitioners, and newcomer clients to address employment challenges as well as promote diversity and inclusion in the workforce.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Employer Relationship Building:
Identify and establish partnerships with local employers
Collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions to identify potential employer partners
Conduct outreach and networking activities to build a network of employers and promote hiring newcomers
Maintain ongoing communications and relationships with employers to better understand hiring needs and challenges
Attend job fairs, networking events, workshops, conferences, and community events to establish new connections and partnerships
Stay informed about labour market trends, newcomer integration programs, and best practices in recruitment, retention, and employer engagement
Job Matching and Placement Process:
Collaborate with Career Practitioners to better understand the skills, qualifications, and career goals of newcomer clients
Through Career Practitioners, match suitable newcomer candidates with job opportunities in the network of employers
Work closely with employers and Career Practitioners to ensure a smooth hiring process
Work with Career Practitioners to help in the placement of clients in available internships or wage subsidy work placements
Employer Education:
Through the Manager, Employer Engagement, be part of the team that:
Delivers information sessions and training to employers on diversity and inclusionary practices, cultural sensitivity, and the benefits of hiring newcomer employees
Offers support and resources to employers to help them create inclusive work environments
Educate potential employers about the value, experiences, and skills that newcomer employees bring to the workforce
Organizes and hosts information sessions, webinars, and workshops to promote understanding and best practices for integrating newcomers into the workforce
Data Tracking and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of employer interactions and job openings to share with the teams
Generate reports and analytics on placement success stories, employer engagement, and other relevant metrics
Maintain all relevant case management databases in collaboration with the Manager and the team of Career Practitioners
Qualifications and Experience:
Post-secondary degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and 2-5 years of experience in the training and development space
Experience coordinating and delivering projects and engaging with stakeholders
Highly developed interpersonal skills including excellent relationship management skills; ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner with stakeholders at all levels; clients, vendors, colleagues and executives
Experience facilitating meetings and making compelling presentations
Research skills and trending analysis
Self-starter with project management, organizational, and record-keeping skills
Excellent communication skills, including writing and speaking
Strong analytical, metrics, and reporting background
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Conditions of Employment:
Legal authorization to work in Canada
Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
Valid class 5 NL driver’s license and daily access to a reliable vehicle is required
Some travel may be required
Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
