Reporting to the Manager, Production, the Business Area Manager provides leadership for the business area focused on production and maintenance execution activities while ensuring all safety, environmental, and training functions are operationalized and effective.This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Drive operational excellence to achieve production targets, operating efficiencies, and best practices
Prepare annual budgets and work closely with team to manage costs and identify potential operating cost reductions
Develop working relationships and partnership with key stakeholders, providing advice on initiatives and ensuring solutions are addressing business requirements
Promote a culture of predictive and proactive maintenance by ensuring systems, procedures, standards, and controls are built and followed
Lead all aspects of people practices for the business unit including performance management, talent development and coaching, and succession planning
Qualifications:
12+ years of leadership experience in a production environment. Experience with pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy or electrometallurgy processes and equipment would be an asset.
Strong leadership skills and team coordination in heavy industrial processing environment.
Proven track record of promoting a safety-first culture among teams
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across varying functions and levels of the organization
Experience with creating and overseeing budgets
Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
Excellent computer skills

Salary Range: $160,000 - $198,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Please note this role does require the successful candidate to live within 100KM of Trail, British Columbia. Relocation assistance will be offered however there is no camp or company housing.About Teck
