We are currently seeking an LCE Underwriter to join our team.
The Lending Center of Excellence (LCE) Underwriter assists with the adjudication of the retail credit portfolio in a timely and accurate manner providing exceptional customer service to our branch & broker channels. Under general direction, underwrites and approves/declines member credit applications by adhering to First West’s Credit policies/guidelines and their assigned their limits. Supports the growth targets set for First West. This role is a subject matter expert to various areas within the Credit Operations department and is required to support business development needs.
Accountabilities
Underwriting: Adjudicates retail credit applications in line with FW policies, procedures, and guidelines; approves/declines credit within assigned lending limits and makes recommendations for credit above assigned limits to LCE management.
Broker/Branch Relations: Communicates Fist West’s Credit policies and guidelines to mortgage brokers ensuring the quality of applications received meets FWCU standards, while maintaining positive relationships with brokers. Maintains and strengthens relationships within our branch & broker channels.
Risk Management: Maintains compliance and risk management requirements by achieving audit scores >85%. Has a strong understanding of First West’s Credit Policies/Guidelines by staying up to date on all internal changes as well as regulatory changes from BCFSA, OSFI and FCAC.
Service Delivery: Provides quality and timely underwriting services and solutions for the benefit of our members, branch, and broker channels.
Process Excellence: Seeks opportunities to optimize and improve the workflow and processes of the LCE responsibilities and provides recommendations to Senior Underwriters.
Stakeholder Management: Delivers exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders by determining their needs and responding to inquiries in a timely, efficient, and courteous manner.
Additional Duties: May perform a variety of activities relating to the overall operation of the Credit Operations department.
Qualifications
College, Trade or Tech School Diploma (2 years) in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Minimum 3 years experience of Retail Credit
Financial Advisory experience preferred

Proficient computer skills with experience using the Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and financial institution specific programs
