Human Resources Manager
Reports to: Director of People & Culture
Annual Salary: $85,000 to $90,000 based on experience
Location: Vancouver, BC
We are looking for an experienced individual who can lead the COBS Bread HR team to deliver effective HR support and achieve business objectives, as well as continuously improve the HR processes and procedures. This individual will provide support to all stakeholders in all human resources related functions such as wage increases, promotions, annual reviews, recruitment, employee relations investigations, disciplinary actions, in compliance with company policies.
What you will be responsible for:
Manage all HR activities to ensure HR support is provided in a timely and appropriate manner
Analyze reports to assess trends, patterns, and themes in order to recommend changes, improvements, and strategies
Work closely with the Senior Leadership team, Operations, and participate in strategy meetings to ensure alignment of people related matters to overall business goals
Manage and coordinate COBS Bread recruitment practices to attract appropriate talent and contribute to building COBS as an ‘Employer of Choice’
Act as a liaison between Recruitment System providers (i.e. Indeed, Push, Workable) and manage the contract and relationship with provider
Oversee the onboarding process for new employees and support tool for Franchisees
Provide support on employee issues and people management related matters to align policy, procedure, and communication; raising awareness and helping to improve practices, consistency, and compliance
Manage risk associated with legal compliance relating to employee issues and practices
Respond to employee issues and provide coaching to managers as required in order to resolve issues
Manage communications to management, Franchisees, and employees regarding legislative changes and changes to employment terms and conditions and expectations
Ability to interpret and implement labour law and employment regulations where applicable in each Province for Support Team and Franchised bakeries
Manage the annual and interim performance review process for salaried staff
Manage, review, and maintain compensation and benefits for all eligible employees
Oversee compliance of OHS and WorkSafe policies, procedures, and practices
Facilitate the talent management process, working closely with the departments and management
Agree and review the HR budget on an annual and quarterly basis
Develop and launch employee surveys where appropriate and maintain certifications such as Great Place to Work
Manage other HR projects and initiatives as required for continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures in order to promote best practice
All other duties as assigned
What you bring to the table:
Minimum 2+ years of experience in effectively leading and motivating a team while carrying out HR Generalist responsibilities
Proven leadership skills in providing strategic people management guidance to managers and Senior Leadership Team
Minimum of 5+ years Human Resources experience in a generalist role
Degree or diploma in business administration, HR management or related field required
Experience of working within a franchise business model is preferred
Understand the unique needs and challenges of the franchise model and tailor HR practices accordingly
Experience of working within a retail, food service and multi-unit environment is preferred
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to various audiences from retail employees and corporate teams to Franchisees and Executive Teams
Effective change management, planning, and organizational skills
Quick learner and self-starter, and ability to make sound business decisions and evidence based recommendations to the Senior Leadership team
Ability to demonstrate initiative, critical thinking and analytical skills with a strong focus on problem solving
