Join our team today!Job DescriptionReporting to the Director of Emergency Services, the Emergency Services Clinical Quality Consultant plays an integral role supporting Emergency Services at William Osler Health System. Overall accountabilities of this role include: developing and driving the quality agenda for the program in consultation with program leadership and in alignment with the corporate priorities of the organization; coordination of quality improvement initiatives for Emergency Services; assist with the development and revision of clinical policies, procedures, processes and practices to enable alignment with best practices, standards and regulations; management and analysis (collection, integration, reporting, dissemination) of program data to support informed decision making; coordination of quality of care reviews, with a focus on identifying systemic improvement opportunities in collaboration with staff, physicians and patients / families. The candidate will leverage various systems and online applications that assist incident management activities, identification of trends and proposal of recommendations for the purposes of quality and process improvement. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong relationship building, facilitation and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously.Accountabilities:Continuous quality improvement managementDemonstrated understanding of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety methodologiesParticipate in the identification, reporting and prevention of risks through medical chart audits and quality of care interdisciplinary case reviewsInitial investigation, coordination and presentation of quality of care reviews and action plans within Emergency Services, offering guidance and support to staff and physicians and overseeing interventions established, education of staff and dissemination of learningsPromote and participate in corporate / organizational quality improvement initiatives through active committees and working group engagements representing Emergency Services, and incorporating learnings and best practice into program plans or initiativesAnalyze and report trends / themes in patient incidents to identify and lead opportunities for quality improvement initiativesIdentify and pursue opportunities for pilot projects & proposal developmentLead quality and process improvement initiatives, including workflow redesign, LEAN events and leveraging other quality improvement mechanismsEstablish and oversee the scope of work for the program quality councilLiaise with Osler corporate quality and risk stakeholders and program partners Program project coordination and managementLead and guide stakeholders through the process of the project development, implementation and evaluation, utilizing a structured project management frameworkEnsure organizational document approval and dissemination of quality improvement initiatives, including policies, procedures and order sets in collaboration with program leadership and clinical education and professional practiceCollaborate with program leadership, Qmentum Program guidelines & standards (Emergency services, Organ and Tissue Donation priority processes, Required Organizational Practices, and corporate priority processes) in alignment with the Corporate Quality Accreditation RoadmapAssist with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of preparedness activities, including establishing of the program quality roadmap, program Accreditation subcommittee, conducting survey tracers to evaluate readiness and identify the interventions required to improve compliance and preparedness, in collaboration with program leadership, professional practice and education, staff and physiciansComplete required corporate reporting of Accreditation preparedness, including preparation and delivery of presentations to respective Accreditation or Quality Lead ForumsData managementData analysis, interpretation, presentation and dissemination that enables decision making in collaboration with Organizational Performance partnersDisseminate performance documentation to program leadership for follow up to sustain all quality initiatives and internal or external reporting processesDevelop monthly quality indicator reports for staff, physicians and program leadership to monitor program performance and quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with Organizational Performance partnersLeverage patient incident reporting system and stakeholder feedback to identify practice issues / trends Lead and promotes clinical quality excellenceAssist program leadership in informed decision making through a relevant health care professional, business administration, engineering Masters prepared is considered an asset3 years experience through participation in quality improvement initiatives, organizational committee workAdvanced computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook and VisioExperience using Pulsecheck and Meditech documentation systems are an assetDemonstrated understanding of the Emergency Services and acute care environment an assetDemonstrated success in identifying and implementing process improvements in a clinical environment, coupled with strong project management Minimum: $85,839.00 annually
