Your role on our team:
We’re looking for a dynamic Development Manager to join our team and drive the success of both large-scale suburban land developments (100+ acre parcels) and innovative inner-city multifamily projects. This is a unique opportunity to work across diverse project types and make a lasting impact on Calgary’s urban and suburban landscape.
In this role, you will:
Project Leadership & Development
Lead the end-to-end development process—from due diligence and planning to approvals and execution.
Manage submissions for development approvals (Outline Plans, NSPs, zoning amendments, subdivisions, site plans, etc.).
Coordinate with municipal authorities and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
Oversee project schedules, budgets, and servicing plans.
Conduct site visits and public meetings as needed.
Negotiate key agreements (development, cost-sharing, permits, etc.) and manage consultant teams.
Strategic Planning & Market Insight
Perform in-depth property research and due diligence to support acquisition and development decisions.
Analyze market trends and competing developments to inform project strategy.
Monitor municipal planning initiatives and provide internal reporting on policy changes and council decisions.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Inspire and lead cross-functional project teams with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and results.
Mentor junior staff and contribute to a high-performance, values-driven culture.
Promote health and safety standards across all project activities.
We would like you to have:
Education & Experience
Post-secondary education in Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
5–8 years of progressive experience in land development, planning, or municipal approvals.
Proven track record managing complex, multi-phase projects.
Experience with financial modeling, cost analysis, and project reporting.
Skills & Attributes
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Strategic thinker with a passion for community-building.
Skilled negotiator with a collaborative mindset.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Project); AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.
Familiarity with municipal development agreements and the MGA.
